It&#8217;s been revealed that she oversaw the release of thousands of unaccompanied children migrants into the country, many of whom ended up exploited and working dangerous jobs. Yikes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Rice, who has served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations, will be leaving her role on May 26th. Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/bidens-domestic-policy-adviser-susan-rice-departs-2023-04-24\/\"><span>announced<\/span><\/a> the news on Monday, praising her &#8220;steady&#8221; and &#8220;capable&#8221; leadership. But let&#8217;s be real &#8211; her policies concerning migrant children have been called into question.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last week, <em>The New York Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/04\/17\/us\/politics\/migrant-child-labor-biden.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&#038;referringSource=articleShare\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a> that Rice was aware the administration was quickly releasing unaccompanied migrant children into the country by the thousands. And guess what? Many of those children ended up working grueling jobs, often for long hours and in dangerous conditions where they worked with chemicals and industrial equipment. Not cool, Rice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>What&#8217;s worse is that Rice and her policy team failed to act, even as administration staffers called for stricter vetting of the sponsors migrant children were placed with to prevent human trafficking. &#8220;It was maddening,&#8221; said Vivian Graubard, a White House adviser who worked with Rice on migrant child issues. Five Health and Human Services staffers said they were pushed out of their roles after raising concerns about child labor issues. Seriously?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But wait, there&#8217;s more! Biden&#8217;s statement announcing Rice&#8217;s departure defended her on the issue, claiming her work helped the administration &#8220;rebuil[d] the broken system of care for unaccompanied children, putting their safety and well-being first and foremost.&#8221; Hmm, we&#8217;re not so sure about that one.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>on July 22, 2015 in Washington, DC.
