Trump&#8217;s campaign claimed that DeSantis had led the state &#8220;to tumble into complete and total delinquency and destruction,&#8221; using information from the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the left-leaning Florida Policy Institute. Trump even shared an article from MSNBC host Joy Reid that attacked DeSantis. <\/p>\n<p>This attack comes as more Americans have moved to Florida in recent years, including Trump himself, due to the freedoms protected in the state during the pandemic. However, Trump&#8217;s remarks were met with intense backlash online, with many conservatives calling out the use of far-left sources to attack a fellow Republican. <\/p>\n<p>Radio host Buck Sexton pointed out DeSantis&#8217; accomplishments, including flipping Florida from purple to solid red, being the best governor during Covid, and attracting almost 1 million people to move to Florida in his first term. Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro called Trump&#8217;s attack &#8220;total crap,&#8221; and Fox News contributor Guy Benson reminded everyone that DeSantis won Trump&#8217;s home county in the last election. <\/p>\n<p>Conservative attorney Marina Medvin questioned why Trump was exerting so much energy on attacking DeSantis, who isn&#8217;t even a serious contender in the polls.
