R<\/span>ep. Dan Kildee<\/a> (D-MI) was released from the hospital over the weekend following a “successful surgery” to remove a cancerous tumor on his tonsil, he announced Saturday. <\/p>\n

Just two days after revealing his squamous cell carcinoma treatment, Kildee was admitted to<\/a> the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.<\/a>, on Monday for a planned procedure to remove” a little cancerous tumor found in his testicle,” according to his office at the time. The 64-year-old senator announced on Saturday that his outlook was” good” and that he would return to Michigan to return before joining Congress.<\/p>\n

Kildee posted on social media,” I’m’m glad to be leaving the hospital after a successful operation to remove savage cancerous tumor.” ” I want to express my gratitude to my fantastic medical staff for their top-notch treatment. I’m’m still appreciative that I was able to identify my cancer early thanks to a preventative scan.<\/p>\n

He continued,” I want to thank my constituents for their continued support as I recover from my surgery at home.” And as I recover, I want to express my gratitude to my brilliant and committed people for their continued support of the Eighth District’s’s residents. I’m’m excited to return to Congress and visit the district soon.<\/p>\n

Currently, Kildee co-chairs the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. In 2013, he took over as Speaker of the House of Representatives<\/a> from his uncle, former Rep. Dale Kildee( D-MI ).<\/p>\n

Republicans hold a majority in the House from 222 to 212, which is the same as the previous Congress’s’s bulk held by Democrats. Similar to Rep. Jamie Raskin’s<\/a>‘s ( D-MD ) absence for the treatment of<\/a> a different type of cancer, Kildee is not present, which has no effect on how the chamber will function.<\/p>\n

This contrasts with the Senate, where Democrats just have a 51-49 majority in the bedroom. Republicans now have the chance to obstruct President Joe Biden’s<\/a>‘s legislative initiatives and nominees with just one absence. Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s<\/a>‘s ( D-CA) continued absence from the body has effectively paralyzed the Senate Judiciary Committee<\/a>, prompting some calls for her resignation<\/a> as Biden stalls his judicial nominees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
