N<\/span>early two-thirds of Republicans<\/a> believe Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell<\/a> (R-KY) should resign, according to a new poll. <\/p>\n

McConnell, 81, returned to the Senate on Monday after a month out of action because he suffered a concussion and a rib fracture<\/a> from a fall in a Washington, D.C., hotel. Despite his return, however, concerns remain over his health and age, according to<\/a> an Economist<\/i>\/YouGov poll. <\/p>\n

TWO-THIRDS OF DEMOCRATS BELIEVE FEINSTEIN SHOULD RESIGN: POLL<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n

The poll, taken April 15-18, found that 64% of Republicans believe McConnell should resign, along with an equal percentage of Democrats. Roughly 63% of respondents and 68% of voters agreed. <\/p>\n

The poll also found that more ideological conservatives and Trump voters believed McConnell should resign than ideological liberals and Biden voters. <\/p>\n

Despite the growing public opinion calling for his resignation, McConnell has so far shown no signs of stepping down. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank all my colleagues for their warm wishes shared over the past few weeks,\u201d McConnell said<\/a> in a Senate floor speech. \u201cSuffice to say this isn\u2019t the first time being hardheaded served me very well,\u201d he quipped with a laugh. <\/p>\n

The Senate minority leader has been busy since his return, juggling debates over the debt ceiling limit, blocking Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s<\/a> (D-NY) proposal to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) temporarily on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and punching back against Democratic concerns over Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s<\/a> recent gift-receiving scandal. <\/p>\n

McConnell is one of three prominent senators to have been out of action for an extended period for health problems, with the other two being Feinstein and Sen. John Fetterman<\/a> (D-PA), who returned the same day as McConnell after a two-monthslong hospital stay for treatment for clinical depression. <\/p>\n

A separate Economist<\/i>\/YouGov poll found that nearly an equivalent percentage<\/a> of respondents that believed McConnell should resign believe Feinstein should resign. Results for Fetterman were more mixed, with only a majority of Republicans believing he should resign. <\/p>\n

The Economist<\/i> and YouGov polled 1,500 United States residents aged 18 and over, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
