(Courtesy of Rex Lee)<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOne good thing about this last TikTok congressional hearing is there was a lot of bipartisan support to ban it, which is a positive thing. But then here we are, two or three weeks later, and there\u2019s no action being taken,\u201d Lee told \u201cChina in Focus\u201d on NTD, the sister media outlet of The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>He called such hearings \u201cpolitical theater,\u201d saying, \u201cWhat I find out about these congressional hearings, they\u2019re more about politics than resolve. We see these executives go before Congress, half of the politicians in the congressional hearings are addressing the real problems, the other half aren\u2019t, and they never seem to come to full resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Top Officials Remain on Platform<\/h2>\n<p>According to him, obstacles stem from the fact that there are still lawmakers using the platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t realize this, but over 30 members of the House and Senate are on TikTok,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He singled out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/04\/09\/bidens-digital-strategy-an-army-of-influencers\">report<\/a> by Axios, which states that President Joe Biden and his campaign are planning on teaming up with social media \u201cinfluencers\u201d to reach young voters.<\/p>\n<p>A number of TikTok \u201cinfluencers\u201d are among the \u201chundreds\u201d with whom the Biden group would work, the article reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just in the news the other day, that the Biden administration had TikTok influencers, along with Instagram and Facebook influencers, at the White House to spread information about the Biden administration\u2019s platform across the social media platform,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when you have congressional hearings, when you have congressional members of Congress and the Senate utilizing TikTok as well as the president, I don\u2019t see how it\u2019s gonna get banned anytime soon,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h2>Powerful Lobbyists<\/h2>\n<p>What\u2019s more? According to Lee, behind those tech companies are powerful lobbyists.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed to Tony Podesta, the brother of former Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta, who recently joined the Biden administration to serve as a senior adviser on clean energy innovation and implementation.
