As noted by Fang, Hasan \u201cgoes on to copy every single line from the U.S. News and World Report article, save for occasionally swapping out or adding a few words in each sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hasan\u2019s 2000 Independent article:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In 1998, even the American Academy of Pediatrics toned down its blanket injunction against smacking, though it still takes a dim view of the practice. In fact, an AAP conference on corporal punishment in 1996 concluded that, in certain circumstances, smacking, or \u201cspanking\u201d, may be an effective backup to other forms of discipline. \u201cThere\u2019s no evidence that a child who is spanked moderately is going to grow up to be a criminal or antisocial or violent,\u201d said S Kenneth Schonberg, a paediatrics professor co-chairing the meeting. In his biography on former Labour Party leader Ed Miliband, Hasan, according to Fang, took a sentence \u201cdirectly from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/politics\/ralph-miliband-the-father-of-a-new-generation-2072092.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a> published by journalist Andy McSmith in The Independent a year prior to the publication of [his] book.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NBC News did not respond to The Federalist\u2019s request for comment on whether Hasan\u2019s record is consistent with the network\u2019s journalistic standards, whether the network was aware of Hasan\u2019s plagiarism when hiring him, or if the network is reviewing Hasan\u2019s work for additional problems before its release to the public.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2023\/03\/03\/msnbcs-hasan-desantis-is-american-orban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">uber leftist<\/a> with a history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2021\/11\/03\/msnbc-glenn-youngkins-victory-proves-white-ignorance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">smearing<\/a> conservatives as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2022\/05\/03\/nolte-elon-musk-ridicules-nbc-for-calling-republicans-nazis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">racist<\/a>, Hasan\u2019s unofficial role as a Democrat Party mouthpiece was evident earlier this month during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/what-happened-to-you-man-matt-taibbi-spars-with-mehdi-hasan-in-tense-msnbc-interview\/ar-AA19AUQ8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview<\/a> with \u201cTwitter Files\u201d reporter Matt Taibbi. During the exchange, Hasan interrogated Taibbi over three minor errors in his \u201cTwitter Files\u201d reporting, such as the latter\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mtaibbi\/status\/1644051295597375488?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conflation<\/a> of the Center for Internet Security with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. <\/p>\n<p>While none of the errors alter the core tenets of Taibbi\u2019s reporting \u2014 which <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/10\/the-censorship-complex-isnt-a-tinfoil-hat-conspiracy-and-the-twitter-files-just-dropped-more-proof\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">documents<\/a> the federal government\u2019s collusion with Big Tech companies to censor information it doesn\u2019t approve of \u2014 Hasan has continued to ignore such pertinent facts and accused Taibbi of lying \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mehdirhasan\/status\/1644379485574135811\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">under oath<\/a>\u201d during his congressional testimony last month.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>   Shawn Fleetwood is a Staff Writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
