He began his remarks by criticizing \u201cMAGA Republicans\u201d for standing in the way of his economic vision and threatening to undo all of his policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ain\u2019t your father\u2019s Republican Party. It\u2019s a different deal right now,\u201d Biden told labor union members at a training facility in Accokeek. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m here today. Because you and the American people should know about the competing economic visions of the country that are really at stake right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden reacted to House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy\u2019s (R-Calif.) remarks to Wall Street on April 17, contrasting his agenda to what he called the \u201cMAGA economic vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you think he told the wealthy and powerful it\u2019s about time they step up and start paying a fair share? Not a word,\u201d Biden told the crowd in Maryland. \u201cDo you think he told billion-dollar companies to stop stashing profits in tax havens and shipping jobs overseas? I didn\u2019t hear any of that,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead, he proposed huge cuts to very important programs that millions of hardworking middle-class Americans count on \u2026 Folks, this time, the same old trickle-down dressed up in MAGA clothing is worse than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden submitted his 2024 budget proposal on March 9, and has since asked House Republicans to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dad used to have an expression: \u2018Don\u2019t tell me what you value. Show me your budget, and I\u2019ll tell you what you value.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy blamed Biden for declining to meet during a speech at the New York Stock Exchange on April 17 and accused him of \u201cmisleading the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to talk to you about the debate that\u2019s not happening in Washington but should be happening over our national debt.
