Here are 19 times Democrats and DOJ politicized the rule of law, deploying federal resources to do Democrats\u2019 bidding.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-590531877\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c74f74a0860af39496048eb5b7b28836 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c74f74a0860af39496048eb5b7b28836\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Infiltration of Catholic Parishes <\/h2>\n<p>House Republican Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/11\/house-weaponization-committee-subpoenas-fbi-director-over-agency-targeting-catholics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subpoenaed <\/a>FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday after a whistleblower revealed the agency is targeting Catholic parishes. <\/p>\n<p>In February, former Special Agent Kyle Seraphin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uncoverdc.com\/2023\/02\/08\/the-fbi-doubles-down-on-christians-and-white-supremacy-in-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> that \u201cthe FBI\u2019s Richmond Division would like to protect Virginians from the threat of \u2018white supremacy,\u2019 which it believes has found a home within Catholics who prefer the Latin Mass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe document assesses with \u2018high confidence\u2019 the FBI can mitigate the threat of Radical-Traditionalist Catholics by recruiting sources within the Catholic Church,\u201d Seraphin reported.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan\u2019s letter to Wray Tuesday said the FBI sought to use local religious organizations as \u2018new avenues for tripwire and source development.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-644552be6d0054a33d17a4d6df2ead74 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-644552be6d0054a33d17a4d6df2ead74\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. FBI Targeted Parents for Domestic Terrorism<\/h2>\n<p>Weeks before the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election, in which parental rights in education were the centerpiece of Republican campaigns, the FBI deployed counterterrorism resources on parents who raised issues at school board meetings. Parents identified as extremists by FBI activists were labeled with \u201cthreat tags\u201d under Attorney General Merrick Garland\u2019s guidance. Whistleblower documents suggest Garland <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/16\/doj-whistleblower-documents-suggest-merrick-garland-lied-about-the-targeting-of-parents-as-domestic-terrorists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lied<\/a> about the scandal when testifying before the House Judiciary Committee that October. <\/p>\n<p>In March, the committee published an interim report on the debacle <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/22\/house-judiciary-finds-biden-doj-had-no-legitimate-basis-to-target-parents-as-terrorists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">concluding <\/a>the Biden administration had \u201cno legitimate basis\u201d to crack down on parents as terrorists. <\/p>\n<p>Garland has refused lawmakers\u2019 demands to repeal the controversial memorandum, according to the committee. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Crossfire Hurricane<\/h2>\n<p>The campaign to impeach former President Donald Trump began well before his 2017 inauguration. <\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ee31e21d2bbf0f942116f984d24d5de4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ee31e21d2bbf0f942116f984d24d5de4\"><\/div>\n<p>Deep-state officials within the FBI concocted plans known as Crossfire Hurricane to frame Trump as a Russian agent after the Republican businessman secured the GOP presidential nomination. Within four months of Trump\u2019s first term, a special counsel was appointed to investigate allegations of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign. Hillary\u2019s Emails<\/h2>\n<p>While the DOJ investigated the Trump campaign in 2016, the agency gave cover to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her private email server scandal. <\/p>\n<p>The FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/fbi-no-evidence-clintons-email-was-hacked-by-foreign-powers-but-it-could-have-been\/2016\/07\/05\/93334ba0-42dc-11e6-8856-f26de2537a9d_story.html?utm_term=.9cb93e8fb006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told <\/a>journalists there was no evidence that a foreign power reviewed Clinton\u2019s emails improperly stored on a private server. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/06\/14\/3-takeaways-from-the-ig-report-that-seriously-undermine-the-fbis-credibility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According <\/a>to a report from the DOJ inspector general in 2018, however, texts show they almost certainly did, \u201cat least one of them classified,\u201d as Federalist Senior Editor David Harsanyi wrote. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. FBI Raids Mar-a-Lago<\/h2>\n<p>In August, the FBI conducted an unprecedented raid of former President Trump\u2019s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago. The search, personally approved by Biden\u2019s attorney general after Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/conflict-of-interest-much-garland-oversees-raid-on-president-who-denied-him-scotus-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blocked <\/a>Garland\u2019s 2016 Supreme Court nomination, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/12\/breaking-fbi-raid-warrant-demanded-seizure-of-literally-any-record-trump-ever-saw-during-4-year-presidential-term\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">authorized <\/a>agents to confiscate any and all documents Trump may have come in contact with as president. <\/p>\n<p>Federal law enforcement officials ultimately left with 15 boxes of allegedly classified material after their search of the 128-room complex, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/09\/fbi-even-searched-melanias-wardrobe-in-trump-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">including <\/a>through former First Lady Melania Trump\u2019s wardrobe.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. DOJ Investigates 2024 GOP Front-Runner<\/h2>\n<p>Trump remains under two special counsel investigations within the Department of Justice, one over the boxes of allegedly classified material from his Florida residence and another related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, Trump was arraigned in a Manhattan courtroom where he pled not guilty to a 34-count felony indictment brought by a George Soros-funded prosecutor over 2016 hush-money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels. House Republicans found Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6323970966112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal forfeiture funding<\/a> in the investigation. <\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s compulsory appearance in New York court gives both President Biden and President Vladimir Putin something in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/04\/putins-and-bidens-chief-political-opponents-are-now-both-under-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">common<\/a>: Their chief political opponents are both under arrest. <\/p>\n<p>The discovery of classified documents in Biden\u2019s private possession from his time as vice president was<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/16\/5-times-media-ran-cover-for-biden-in-classified-documents-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> far less dramatic.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. DOJ Fuels J6 Conspiracies <\/h2>\n<p>As the Department of Justice continues to concoct crimes to charge Trump with related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the agency has continued on a nationwide hunt to find any and all in Washington, D.C., that day, even <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/08\/19\/71-year-old-grandmother-visited-by-fbi-over-attending-january-trump-rally\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">questioning <\/a>71-year-old grandmothers. <\/p>\n<p>The agency, meanwhile, has refused lawmakers\u2019 questions about the extent of federal law enforcement\u2019s involvement. Wray played down the agency\u2019s own negligence about federal preparedness at an August Senate hearing and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/04\/fbi-director-wray-sets-possible-new-record-for-how-many-times-a-person-can-fail-in-a-3-5-hour-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a>, \u201cWe did not have any credible intelligence that pointed to thousands of people breaching the Capitol. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/exclusive-secret-commandos-shoot-kill-authority-were-capitol-1661330\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According <\/a>to Newsweek, however, the FBI deployed commandos with \u201cshoot to kill authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FBI has been\u00a0even <a href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2022\/02\/14\/the-january-6-pipe-bombs-look-like-another-fbi-hoax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">less forthcoming<\/a>\u00a0about a pair of pipe bombs planted at the RNC and DNC headquarters.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. FBI Pressured Twitter to Censor Hunter Biden Laptop<\/h2>\n<p>After acquiring Twitter, CEO Elon Musk gave a group of independent journalists exclusive access to the company\u2019s internal communications. The ensuing \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.racket.news\/p\/capsule-summaries-of-all-twitter?utm_source=post-email-title&#038;publication_id=1042&#038;post_id=94664483&#038;isFreemail=false&#038;token=eyJ1c2VyX2lkIjozNTE3MzQzLCJwb3N0X2lkIjo5NDY2NDQ4MywiaWF0IjoxNjcyODY0Nzg3LCJleHAiOjE2NzU0NTY3ODcsImlzcyI6InB1Yi0xMDQyIiwic3ViIjoicG9zdC1yZWFjdGlvbiJ9.8KrjtmaLqAhfu16DjfNlupy1cssPmjNXXdFmSeBUp8o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter Files<\/a>\u201d exposed how the federal government co-opts social media platforms to manipulate public opinion through censorship campaigns. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mtaibbi\/status\/1603857534737072128?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Part 6<\/a> of the \u201cTwitter Files\u201d detailed how Twitter was a conduit for the FBI to influence voters ahead of the 2020 election. The two were reportedly in \u201cconstant and pervasive\u201d contact. The agency partnered with Twitter to suppress right-leaning content throughout the election cycle. That suppression still <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/01\/twitter-bans-sen-mike-lee-after-sharing-federalist-article-criticizing-biden-foreign-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">continues <\/a>under Musk\u2019s leadership. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShellenbergerMD\/status\/1604871630613753856?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Part 7<\/a> of the series, published by California-based Substack reporter <a href=\"https:\/\/public.substack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Shellenberger<\/a>, illustrated how the FBI launched an operation to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop stories, which implicated then-candidate Biden in global influence-peddling schemes. The FBI even <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShellenbergerMD\/status\/1604890603468120064?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arranged <\/a>security clearances for senior employees at Twitter and paid the company <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/19\/fbi-reimbursed-twitter-for-doing-its-dirty-work-on-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$3.4 million<\/a> in taxpayer dollars. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican taxpayers are unwittingly financing the growth and power of a censorship industrial complex run by America\u2019s scientific and technological elite, which endangers our liberties and democracy,\u201d Shellenberger told lawmakers on the House Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government in March. \u201cThe censorship industrial complex combines established methods of psychological manipulation, some developed by the U.S. military during the global war on terror with highly sophisticated tools from computer science.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. FBI Pressured Facebook to Censor Hunter Biden Laptop Stories<\/h2>\n<p>At the House Weaponization Committee\u2019s second hearing held last month, Subsack reporter and lead \u201cTwitter Files\u201d author <a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/profile\/263053-matt-taibbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matt Taibbi<\/a> testified, \u201cWe learned Twitter, Facebook, Google, and other companies developed a formal system for taking in moderation requests from every corner of government, from the FBI, the DHS, the HHS, DOD, the Global Engagement Center at State, even the CIA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA focus of this fast-growing network \u2026 is making lists of people whose opinions, beliefs, associations or sympathies are deemed misinformation, disinformation, or malinformation,\u201d Taibbi said. \u201cThat last term is just a euphemism for \u2018true but inconvenient.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In August, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg went on Joe Rogan\u2019s podcast and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/26\/confirmed-fbi-colluded-with-big-tech-to-prevent-voters-from-learning-about-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> the FBI prepped the company to wrongly deem the Hunter Biden laptop story a vehicle of Russian interference. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBI basically came to us and spoke to some folks on our team and was like, \u2018Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert. We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda on the 2016 election. We have it on notice that basically there\u2019s about to be some kind of dump similar to that,&#8217;\u201d Zuckerberg said.<\/p>\n<p>Once the laptop stories broke from the New York Post, Facebook promptly suppressed their distribution on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it was 5 to 7 days when it was basically being determined whether it was false,\u201d Zuckerberg said, without disclosing who was responsible for the network\u2019s \u201cfact-check.\u201d \u201cFewer people saw it than would have otherwise.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. DOJ Drags Feet on Hunter Biden Investigations <\/h2>\n<p>Days after Zuckerberg\u2019s appearance on Rogan\u2019s podcast, a<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/24\/you-will-not-look-at-that-hunter-biden-laptop-johnson-whistleblowers-reveal-more-fbi-corruption-in-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> whistleblower report<\/a> from Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson accused the FBI, which possessed the laptop\u2019s contents long before the New York Post, of slow-walking investigations of the president\u2019s son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the FBI obtained the Hunter Biden laptop from the Wilmington, DE computer shop, these whistleblowers stated that local FBI leadership told employees, \u2018you will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop\u2019 and that the FBI is \u2018not going to change the outcome of the election again,&#8217;\u201d Johnson wrote in a letter to Wray. \u201cFurther, these whistleblowers allege that the FBI did not begin to examine the contents of Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop until after the 2020 presidential election \u2014 potentially a year after the FBI obtained the laptop in December 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden has remained under DOJ investigation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/hunter-biden-probe-2022-fourth-year-counting-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">since<\/a> 2018, with federal prosecutors investigating tax crimes. In September, Senate Republicans demanded that a special counsel lead the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Insiders at the Justice Department\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/27\/doj-insiders-say-delaware-us-attorneys-office-too-inadequate-to-investigate-biden-family-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complained<\/a>\u00a0to The Federalist that the Delaware U.S. attorney\u2019s office lacks the proper resources to conduct a comprehensive investigation that a special counsel\u2019s office could offer.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. DOJ Jails Meme Creator <\/h2>\n<p>A pro-Trump internet meme creator faces 10 years in prison after being <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/11\/a-pranksters-conviction-sends-a-message-anti-regime-speech-is-a-crime\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=a-pranksters-conviction-sends-a-message-anti-regime-speech-is-a-crime\">criminally convicted<\/a> last month of \u201celection interference\u201d for a post generated amid the 2016 contest. <\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department sought charges against Douglass Mackey in January last year over the 2016 post mocking how low Democrats want to move barriers for voting.   <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSave time Avoid the line Vote from home. DOJ Cracks Down on Pro-Life Activists<\/h2>\n<p>The Department of Justice indicted 22 pro-life activists last year while neglecting to go after pro-abortion extremists who firebombed pregnancy centers, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/19\/the-fbi-has-indicted-22-pro-life-protesters-and-zero-pregnancy-center-firebombers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according <\/a>to a Federalist review. <\/p>\n<p>Among those indicted was 73-year-old Chet Gallagher, whose home was <a href=\"https:\/\/texasrighttolife.com\/fbi-raids-home-of-another-pro-lifer-still-no-arrests-in-pregnancy-center-fire-bombings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raided <\/a>last fall by the FBI over alleged violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Gallagher is one of 11 who were <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/06\/if-peacefully-protesting-abortion-is-criminal-but-firebombing-pregnancy-centers-is-not-there-is-no-rule-of-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indicted <\/a>by the Justice Department for standing in the hallway outside the Carafem abortion facility in Tennessee two years ago. Gallagher was also charged with civil rights conspiracy with six others. While the DOJ claims the pro-life activists, \u201caided and abetted by one another, used force and physical obstruction to injure, intimidate and interfere with employees of the clinic and a patient who was seeking reproductive health services,\u201d they were mostly just praying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/06\/if-peacefully-protesting-abortion-is-criminal-but-firebombing-pregnancy-centers-is-not-there-is-no-rule-of-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">If Peacefully Protesting Abortion Is Criminal But Firebombing Pregnancy Centers Is Not, There Is No Rule Of Law<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The department only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/two-defendants-indicted-civil-rights-conspiracy-and-face-act-offenses-targeting-pregnancy-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced <\/a>its first two indictments of violent pro-abortion extremists who targeted pro-life pregnancy centers in January. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. FBI Connects Common Internet Slang with \u2018Violent Extremism\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Records made public by a Freedom of Information Act request by the conservative Heritage Foundation on Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/04\/10\/fbi-documents-associate-internet-slang-like-based-and-red-pill-with-extremism\/?utm_source=NYPTwitter&#038;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&#038;utm_medium=SocialFlow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed <\/a>the FBI is flagging common internet lingo as indicators of extremism. <\/p>\n<p>Words such as \u201cbased\u201d and \u201cRed Pill,\u201d popularized by \u201cThe Matrix,\u201d are identified by the FBI as markers of \u201cInvoluntary Celibate Violent Extremism\u201d or \u201cRacially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. Inflating Extremism <\/h2>\n<p>Whistleblowers claim the FBI is inflating the number of \u201cdomestic violent extremism\u201d cases to fit the Democrats\u2019 hyperbolic narrative that home-grown extremism is the nation\u2019s worst national security threat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom recent protected disclosures, we have learned that FBI officials are pressuring agents to reclassify cases as \u2018domestic violent extremism\u2019 even if the cases do not meet the criteria for such a classification,\u201d Rep. Jordan wrote in July,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/28\/jordan-fbi-exaggerates-domestic-violent-extremism-cases-to-bolster-bidens-greatest-threat-narrative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">detailing<\/a>\u00a0whistleblower allegations in a letter to Wray. \u201cGiven the narrative pushed by the Biden Administration that domestic violent extremism is the \u2018greatest threat\u2019 facing our country, the revelation that the FBI may be artificially padding domestic terrorism data is scandalous.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">15. FBI Calls Extremist Shooter Targeting GOP Baseball Practice \u2018Suicide By Cop\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The FBI sought to downplay the left-wing extremism of a 66-year-old gunman who targeted a 2017 GOP congressional baseball practice by claiming the assailant was motivated by a desire to commit \u201csuicide by cop.\u201d The agency has stood by the description years later. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fair to say the shooter was motivated by a desire to commit an attack on members of Congress and then knowing by doing so he would likely be killed in the process,\u201d Jill Sanborn, the executive assistant director of the FBI,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/04\/29\/fbi-suicide-by-cop-2017-baseball-shooting-485002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0the House Appropriations subcommittee in 2021. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">16. FBI Covers Up Antisemitism<\/h2>\n<p>The FBI claimed that an attack on a synagogue last year by 44-year-old Malik Faisal Akram had nothing to do with targeting Jews. Akram took hostages at a Texas synagogue to demand the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani national <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/18\/texas-synagogue-attack-smells-like-more-evidence-of-fbi-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also known as<\/a> \u201cLady Al Qaeda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do believe from our engagement with this subject that he was singularly focused on one issue, and it was not specifically related to the Jewish community,\u201d said Matthew J. DeSarno, the FBI\u2019s special agent leading the Dallas field office. <\/p>\n<p>Except Chuck DeVore of the Texas Public Policy Foundation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/19\/fbis-explanation-for-attack-on-texas-synagogue-reeks-of-agency-politicization\/\">reported<\/a> that Akram \u201cwas heard to say via the live stream that operated from the synagogue for much of the incident that he chose it because he thought it was the closest assemblage of Jews to the federal facility holding Siddiqui.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">17. Whitmer Plot<\/h2>\n<p>Just as Democrats were branding Republicans as dangerous extremists during the 2020 campaigns, the FBI revealed a plot to kidnap Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. A group of far-right militiamen, according to the tale, conspired to kidnap the governor and try her as a \u201ctyrant.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In July of last year, however, long after the 2020 election, BuzzFeed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/kenbensinger\/michigan-kidnapping-gretchen-whitmer-fbi-informant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that <em>at least<\/em> 12 people involved were FBI informants orchestrating an entrapment plot. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe problem with the case is that it appears the FBI, through informants and undercover agents,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21011399-21-0113-croft-arraignment-iptc-detention-hearing-e-filed#document\/p41\/a2046414\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hatched the kidnapping plot<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21011328-dan-2nd-in-command\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">served in the key leadership positions<\/a>\u00a0of the militia group,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21011389-bellar-morrison-musico-day-3-transcript#document\/p60\/a2046321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trained the militia members<\/a>\u00a0in military tactics, actively\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/kenbensinger\/michigan-kidnapping-gretchen-whitmer-fbi-informant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recruited participants<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21011389-bellar-morrison-musico-day-3-transcript#document\/p202\/a2046318\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">and funded<\/a>\u00a0much of the militia\u2019s activities,\u201d former CIA Paramilitary Operations Officer Max Morton <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/26\/the-fbis-whitmer-kidnapping-case-looks-like-a-potemkin-terror-plot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cThen, when various members of the Watchman militia became uncomfortable with the kidnapping plot, with several quitting, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/kenbensinger\/michigan-kidnapping-gretchen-whitmer-fbi-informant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FBI\u2019s primary informant pushed the plot along<\/a>, eventually becoming the militia group\u2019s leader.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">18. FBI Took Down Rep. Jeff Fortenberry<\/h2>\n<p>Trump is far from the only Republican the FBI has recently sought to imprison. Nebraska Republican Rep. Jeff Fortenberry stepped down from the House of Representatives last year after federal prosecutors successfully secured a conviction. The case was classic <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/29\/fbi-lies-and-entrapment-result-in-probation-sentence-for-former-republican-congressman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">entrapment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The saga began in 2019 when a pair of FBI agents showed up at Fortenberry\u2019s Nebraska residence ostensibly over a national security issue, not a criminal probe. Prosecutors convicted Fortenberry of scheming to conceal material facts from federal officials and two false statements.<\/p>\n<p>One false statement was attributed to Forteberry not recognizing a person whose 10-year-old picture was presented to him by agents on their trip to his home. In July 2019, the FBI reportedly lied to Fortenberry and his attorney, former Rep. Trey Gowdy, claiming Fortenberry was not under criminal investigation when he was. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">19. FBI Went on Offense Against Kyle Rittenhouse<\/h2>\n<p>As Kyle Rittenhouse faced murder charges in Wisconsin over three men shot in self-defense at the Kenosha riots of 2020, the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/11\/sen-johnson-probes-fbi-aerial-surveillance-after-rittenhouse-defense-suspects-foul-play-in-kenosha-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gave <\/a>prosecutors aerial surveillance footage of the scenes to land a conviction.
