A<\/span> U.S. District Judge has ordered Peter Navarro, former trade adviser to President Donald Trump, to immediately hand over emails sent via a private account during his time in the White House. The case has been long-drawn-out and Navarro has been battling to avoid turning over the emails for a while. The judge, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, a Clinton appointee, rejected all of Navarro’s arguments and gave his team 30 days to hand over the communication. Politico<\/i> reported <\/a>on the decision. <\/p>\n

Kollar-Kotelly has ruled that Navarro’s emails come under the Presidential Records Act, stating that any work-related messages sent from a personal email account must be forwarded to an official account within 20 business days. \u201cDr. Navarro contends that he has no statutory duties under the PRA. \u2026 This position would defeat the entire purpose of the statute, i.e., to ensure that Presidential records, as defined, are collected, maintained and made available to the public,\u201d she wrote. <\/p>\n

Navarro is currently on trial for two charges over his defiance of a subpoena related to his actions concerning the Jan. 6 events.<\/p>\n
