S<\/span>enator Tim Scott from South Carolina has plans to launch a 2024 exploratory committee, a solid indication that he might run for President in 2024, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Scott, who is 57 years old, reportedly plans to launch the exploratory committee on Wednesday. He would become the first Republican to create such a committee for 2024, even before declared candidates do so, which could further fuel the speculation about him running for the presidency.<\/p>\n

An exploratory committee would enable Senator Scott to direct funding towards polling efforts and travel to politically important states. In case he launches a presidential campaign, he could transfer the funds there. He is scheduled to be in Iowa, the first state to vote in the Republican primary and a politically significant state, on the same day as he is expected to launch the exploratory committee. He will then travel to New Hampshire and later on attend a summit in South Carolina. <\/p>\n

Although Scott appears increasingly likely to run for president, he could end up on a collision course with two of his significant GOP allies: former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who appointed him to the Senate in 2012, and former President Donald Trump. <\/p>\n

Senator Scott has hinted about his presidential aspirations previously. He gave a direct hint at a November 2022 election victory party when he addressed the crowd by saying, \u201cMy grandfather voted for the first man of color to be re-elected as President of the United States. I wish he lived long enough, long enough to see perhaps another man of color \u2014 and this time, vote for a Republican and not a Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n
