It tells the Old Testament story of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/religion\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Abraham<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, who was commanded by God to sacrifice his only son Isaac.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the standard film description, Abraham was commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac on the hills of Moriah, which is one of the most contentious events in the Old Testament. Abraham and Sarah&#8217;s&#8217;s years of longing for the son they were promised\u2014 the son he must now lay on the altar \u2014 are flooded with vivid memories as they travel to the site of the sacrifice with Isaac and two servants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The film was produced on a tiny budget of $250,000. Advertising was done via a crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Angel Studios, which raised more than $1.2 million for prints and advertising costs, per a report from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/his-only-son-domestic-box-office-11-million\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Collider<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Angel Studios said it was the first-ever crowdfunded film with a nationwide theatrical release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Last weekend,&#8221; His Only Son&#8221; placed third, followed by&#8221; Dungeons &#038; Dragons: Honor Among Thieves&#8221; and&#8221; John Wick: Chapter 4.&#8221; Due to the enormous success of&#8221; The Super Mario Bros.
