Version: 4.0.47--><div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"aplayer_app\" data-source=\"https:\/\/vs1.youmaker.com\/assets\/2023\/0410\/3147e6e5-da5f-4712-bb14-3c8a932511aa\/audio.mp3?length=3158829&#038;duration=263\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The chair of the House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed FBI Director Christopher Wray for all records relating to a leaked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fbi-disavows-internal-memo-warning-against-radical-traditionalist-catholic-ideology_5046779.html\">internal memo<\/a> that proposed developing sources in traditionalist Catholic parishes to inform on potential \u201cviolent extremists\u201d in such houses of worship.<\/p>\n<p>In an April 10 letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/wray-subpoena-cover-letter.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) attached to the subpoena, Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) noted that the committee\u2019s investigation of that Jan. 23 memo, which has since been repudiated by the FBI, had revealed that it was produced by at least one undercover agent and that, despite leadership\u2019s claims to the contrary, the bureau intended to act on the memo\u2019s recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the limited information produced by the FBI to the Committee, we now know that the FBI relied on at least one undercover agent to produce its analysis, and that the FBI proposed that its agents engage in outreach to Catholic parishes to develop sources among the clergy and church leadership to inform on Americans practicing their faith,\u201d Jordan wrote to Wray. \u201cThis shocking information reinforces our need for all responsive documents, and the Committee is issuing a subpoena to you to compel your full cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BREAKING?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BREAKING<\/a>: We now know the FBI, relying on information derived from at least one \ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b employee, sought to use local religious organizations as \u201cnew avenues for tripwire and source development.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/97veIGtvq4\">pic.twitter.com\/97veIGtvq4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Weaponization Committee (@Weaponization) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Weaponization\/status\/1645478587741372431?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 10, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 9\u2014one day after the memo was leaked on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uncoverdc.com\/2023\/02\/08\/the-fbi-doubles-down-on-christians-and-white-supremacy-in-2023\/\">UncoverDC website<\/a>\u2014the FBI\u2019s national office disavowed the document in a statement provided to The Epoch Times, stating that its broad assumptions about a link between traditionalist Catholics and violent extremists \u201cdoes not meet the exacting standards of the FBI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon learning of the document, FBI Headquarters quickly began taking action to remove the document from FBI systems and conduct a review of the basis for the document,\u201d the FBI National Press Office stated. \u201cThe FBI is committed to sound analytic tradecraft and to investigating and preventing acts of violence and other crimes while upholding the constitutional rights of all Americans and will never conduct investigative activities or open an investigation based solely on First Amendment protected activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, during a March hearing of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Wray himself condemned the memo and said the FBI\u2019s Inspection Division had been ordered to look into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will note it was a product by one field office, which, of course, we have scores and scores of these products,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd when we found out about it, we took action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re also taking steps to reinforce with our workforce all of the long-standing policies we have that speak to this kind of thing.
