Perry, who claimed self-defense, was convicted of the murder charge but was found not guilty on the aggravated assault charge.<\/p>\n<p>Perry was not initially charged with any crimes after the incident, but in 2021 District Attorney Jose Garza took office and decided to prosecute Perry. Garza is one of many district attorneys whose campaign was backed by billionaire Democrat George Soros.<\/p>\n<p>David Fugitt, the lead investigating detective in the case, said in a 2021 affidavit that Garza acted with \u201ccriminal behavior\u201d in the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had several conversations with the District Attorney\u2019s Office regarding the presentation of exculpatory evidence related to Daniel Perry,\u201d Fugitt said. \u201cIt became clear to me that the District Attorney\u2019s Office did not want to present evidence to the grand jury that would be exculpatory to Daniel Perry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn more than one occasion I was directed by the Travis County\u00a0Attorney\u2019s Office to remove exculpatory information that I had intended to present to the grand jury during my testimony,\u201d he said. \u201cOf my original 158 slide powerpoint presentation, the presentation was reduced to 56 slides with almost all of the exculpatory evidence ordered removed. I felt like I did not have any other options but to comply with their orders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fugitt said that Garza\u2019s directive to forbid exculpatory evidence from being shown during the case \u201cis when the conduct of the District Attorney\u2019s Office [went] from highly unethical behavior to criminal behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fugitt said that Garza\u2019s office \u201ctampered\u201d with him as a witness in a criminal manner.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Daniel Perry case \u2014 read the affidavit from the lead detective, claiming that the Soros DA directed him &#8220;to remove exculpatory information that I had intended to present to the grand jury during my testimony.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This detective believes the Soros DA acted criminally. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3iDhWUZLkh\">pic.twitter.com\/3iDhWUZLkh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Marina Medvin \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@MarinaMedvin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarinaMedvin\/status\/1644675611707711489?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Gov.
