Pomerantz, who left the district attorney&#8217;s office last year following the investigation, is ordered to appear before the committee on April 20th, 2022. The move by the Republicans aims to put pressure on Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney to investigate Trump, which they describe as politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoena seeks to obtain information relevant for the Committee&#8217;s oversight and potential legislative reforms in preventing politically motivated prosecutions of current and former Presidents. <\/p>\n<p>Bragg called the House investigation an &#8220;unprecedented campaign of harassment and intimidation.&#8221; and commented that Congress should not be &#8220;intruding&#8221; on New York&#8217;s &#8220;sovereignty&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Pomerantz left the office in February 2022, shortly after Bragg took over, citing Bragg\u2019s decision to &#8220;indefinitely suspend&#8221; the Trump investigation, whom Pomerantz believed was guilty.
