margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-537567907\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-14b65c94b7ef6219a002a7b6dd897a7a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-14b65c94b7ef6219a002a7b6dd897a7a\"><\/div>\n<p>Here are the notorious anti-Trumpers who willingly admitted that Bragg\u2019s case against the leader of the Republican Party is a weak attempt to keep him from winning the White House in 2024.<\/p>\n<h2>Andrew McCabe<\/h2>\n<p>Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe expressed disappointment on CNN on Tuesday after he realized that Bragg\u2019s justification for elevating Trump\u2019s charges to felonies \u201csimply isn\u2019t there.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think everyone was hoping we would see more,\u201d McCabe said. <\/p>\n<p>He later added that \u201cIt\u2019s hard to imagine convincing a jury that they should get there.\u201d<\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-db49e48cf981dda49a03822fb881958f fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-db49e48cf981dda49a03822fb881958f\"><\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"4t6vxPa1Um2\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Disappointment,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PafSwiY2nZ\">pic.twitter.com\/PafSwiY2nZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Steve Krakauer (@SteveKrak) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SteveKrak\/status\/1643426938306932741?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2>Jonathan Chait<\/h2>\n<p>Jonathan Chait, a political columnist at New York Magazine, wrote in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/2023\/04\/donald-trump-new-york-indictment-bragg-should-not-be-brought.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Intelligencer<\/a> that Bragg\u2019s case against Trump is littered with \u201clegal deficiencies\u201d and kicks off \u201cthe criminalization of politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump is being prosecuted charged because he paid hush money to a mistress, something it\u2019s inconcievable he would have been charged over if he were never a candidate for office,\u201d Chait tweeted. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Alan Dershowitz<\/h2>\n<p>Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/video\/alan-dershowitz-on-trump-arraignment-i-think-its-an-important-day-in-america-morning-in-america\/8529919\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alan Dershowitz<\/a> called Bragg\u2019s case against Trump a \u201cpoliticization of the criminal justice system\u201d and\u00a0\u201cvery, very dangerous for America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a scandalous misuse of the criminal justice system,\u201d Dershowitz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/opinion\/sharri-markson\/very-dangerous-for-america-alan-dershowitz-analyses-trump-indictment\/video\/be664a5e853d3b2f6bddae0a48f350c8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Sky News Australia<\/a>. \u201cIt will create a terrible precedent in which other prosecutors will go after people of the opposing party.\u201d<\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-26e842f5b6fdcfd73aa36f9adf70c780 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-26e842f5b6fdcfd73aa36f9adf70c780\"><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Carrie Cordero<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>CNN legal analyst\u00a0Carrie Cordero said she expected Bragg\u2019s charges against Trump to be connected to the payments Trump\u2019s former lawyer Michael Cohen made to Stormy Daniels but said the case itself is \u201ca little underwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s not more to it. There\u2019s not more violations, tax violations. There\u2019s not an incredible new set of facts that we didn\u2019t know about publicly. Mitt Romney\u2019s distaste for the former president is no secret but even his strong anti-Trump bias didn\u2019t stop him from calling out the Manhattan D.A. for having \u201cstretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<h2>John Bolton<\/h2>\n<p>Trump-era National Security Adviser John Bolton says Bragg is \u201cwrong on the applicability of the New York statute\u201d that he charged Trump under. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeaking as someone who very strongly does not Donald Trump to get the Republican presidential nomination, I\u2019m extraordinarily distressed by this document. I think this is even weaker than I feared it would be and I think it\u2019s easily subject to being dismissed or a quick acquittal for Trump,\u201d Bolton explained on a CNN panel on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"v3XK1C9UcW4OhNQTbrytuF7nGDVHgpl0mM5eE8A\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Even John Bolton thinks the indictment is a joke.<br \/>&#8220;I&#8217;m extraordinarily distressed by this document \u2026 This is even weaker than I feared it would be.&#8221;<br \/>He predicts a &#8220;quick acquittal&#8221; because the case suggests everything a candidate pays for can be construed as campaign-related. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KTyBa72gLo\">pic.twitter.com\/KTyBa72gLo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NickFondacaro\/status\/1643364614581760004?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 4, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Bolton warned that \u201cthere is no basis in the statutory language to say that Trump\u2019s behavior forms either a [campaign] contribution or an expenditure under federal law\u201d which effectively renders Bragg\u2019s case vulnerable to challenge. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you can construe the statute to cover this behavior then I think it violates the First Amendment,\u201d Bolton said. <\/p>\n<h2>Ian Millhiser\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Ian Millhiser, a senior correspondent at Vox, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/politics\/2023\/4\/4\/23648390\/trump-indictment-supreme-court-stormy-daniels-manhattan-alvin-bragg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> Bragg\u2019s case against Trump \u201cpainfully anticlimactic\u201d and said it was built on an \u201cuncertain legal theory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the second paragraph of the Vox analysis he penned on Tuesday, Millhiser acknowledges that \u201cthere\u2019s a very real risk that this indictment will end in an even bigger anticlimax\u201d because \u201cit is unclear that the felony statute that Trump is accused of violating actually applies to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBragg, in other words, has built one of the most controversial and high-profile criminal cases in American history upon the most uncertain of foundations. And that foundation could crumble into dust if the courts reject his legal arguments on a genuinely ambiguous question of law,\u201d Millhiser reaffirms later in the article.<\/p>\n<h2>Noah Feldman<\/h2>\n<p>Bloomberg opinion columnist and Harvard law professor Noah Feldman wrote in The Washington Post on Tuesday that indicting Trump is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2023\/04\/04\/trump-arraignment-bragg-indictment-could-impact-jan-6-prosecution\/f92761a4-d32f-11ed-ac8b-cd7da05168e9_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cRisky Bet for New York and the Nation.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Feldman opens by invoking Democrats\u2019 favorite Trump talking point \u2014 \u201cno one is above the law\u201d\u2013 but quickly criticized Bragg\u2019s case against the former president as \u201cpoorly timed,\u201d \u201clegally weak,\u201d and one that could easily result in a mistrial or acquittal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd not only may Trump potentially beat the charges, at trial or on appeal,\u201d Feldman wrote.  \u201cHe may be able to use those charges to create the impression among his supporters that he is a victim of politically motivated vendetta. In turn, that may make it harder for Georgia or federal prosecutors to bring and sustain much more serious charges against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Mark Joseph Stern<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe Trump Indictment Is Not the Slam-Dunk Case Democrats Wanted,\u201d Slate senior writer Mark Joseph Stern\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/news-and-politics\/2023\/04\/donald-trump-indictment-democrats-no-slam-dunk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest headline blared<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>According to Stern, Bragg fails to disclose the specific election law that he believes Trump violated even though the \u201centire prosecution hinges on that question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese charges will be difficult to prove,\u201d Stern warned. \u201cThere can be no doubt that the district attorney faces an uphill climb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey tell the story of a complex conspiracy to illicitly alter the course of the 2016 election\u2014potentially, a powerful tale of corruption that persuades both the jury and the public of this prosecution\u2019s necessity,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut Bragg\u2019s legal theory is, if not convoluted, a fairly confusing effort to patch together disparate offenses into one alleged crime, carried out over 34 illegal payments. This is not at all the slam-dunk case that so many Democrats\u00a0wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Michael Avenatti<\/h2>\n<p>Even the lawyer who previously represented on-screen prostitute Stormy Daniels apparently cast doubt on Bragg\u2019s ability to bring a successful case against Trump based on testimony from his former client. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t build a case on the testimony of Cohen and Daniels,\u201d Michael Avenatti <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bencjacobs\/status\/1641618068550955011?s=46&#038;t=u7VDoTFbarOttceBkhSt0w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly said.<\/a> <\/p>\n<h2>Jonathan Lemire\u2019s Democrat Sources<\/h2>\n<p>MSNBC host Jonathan Lemire <a href=\"https:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/mark-finkelstein\/2023\/03\/20\/weakest-case-morning-joe-sweats-outcome-possible-new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> his fellow \u201cMorning Joe\u201d panelists last week that he and other Democrats are concerned Bragg\u2019s case isn\u2019t strong. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats I\u2019ve spoken to, including some senior members of the White House, who do fear that because\u00a0this case is weakest, that if it is brought first, that it will be potential \u2014 allow Trump to then paint this one as illegitimate, that it\u2019s weak, and suggest that all of the other cases against him are as well. And\u00a0that is something they\u2019re worried about,\u201d he warned. <\/p>\n<h2>Sarah Isgur<\/h2>\n<p>Harvard law grad and senior editor of the anti-Trump publication The\u00a0Dispatch Sarah Isgur <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/whignewtons\/status\/1643361486801371137?s=61&#038;t=vtJeZ-NQy7eV3iec8iP2Mw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted on Twitter<\/a> shortly after Trump\u2019s arraignment that Bragg\u2019s charges don\u2019t make sense. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s tying felony falsification of business records to another state crime that requires unlawful means\u2026so now we need a third crime in order for this \u2018felony turtles all the way down\u2019 charge to work.
