The newspaper, also known as the &#8220;Gray Lady,&#8221; recently had its badge removed and has yet to make any moves to regain it.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, criticized the paper in a tweet, saying that their &#8220;propaganda isn&#8217;t even interesting&#8221; and adding that their Twitter feed is &#8220;unreadable&#8221; and &#8220;the Twitter equivalent of diarrhea.&#8221; He suggested that if the company only posted its top articles, it would have far more real followers.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter announced that it would begin to phase out its legacy verified program and remove verified checkmarks, with April 1 being the date when the process would start. Twitter users can still keep or obtain their verification badge by paying an $8 monthly subscription fee for a Blue subscription. Musk believes that paid subscriptions could help combat bots and trolls while also benefiting the social media platform financially.<\/p>\n<p>Although Twitter has shared a link for organizations to sign up for &#8220;Verified Organizations&#8221;, a spokesperson for The New York Times informed The Daily Wire that the newspaper has no plans to pay a monthly fee for verified status on its institutional accounts.
