Despite many claims to the contrary, the MRC found the company has become <em>more<\/em> oppressive\u00a0since Elon Musk acquired the platform.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to data from the MRC\u2019s Free Speech America\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/censortrack.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CensorTrack.org<\/a> database, there have been 293 cases of documented censorship since Musk took over from Nov. 4, 2022, through Mar. 4, 2023. This is 67 more cases than the 226 instances reported by CensorTrack.org from pre-Musk Twitter during the same time last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1004834480\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\" data-google-query-id=\"CIHjhaqIjP4CFUwJaAgd3WUA3Q\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_top_0__container__\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_top_0\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_top_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\" tabindex=\"0\" style=\"border: 0px; vertical-align: bottom;\" data-load-complete=\"true\" data-google-container-id=\"4\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-619dbfff28d50336c947899090a474b9 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-619dbfff28d50336c947899090a474b9\"><\/div>\n<p>The Media Research Center also found Twitter\u2019s methods of censorship recently became more severe. \u201cIn 245 of the 293 (84%) documented cases of censorship on CensorTrack.org, Twitter locked users\u2019 accounts, and in nearly all cases users were required to delete the content to regain access to their accounts,\u201d reports the MRC. \u201cUnder the old Twitter regime, by contrast, only 136 of the 226 (60%) documented cases of censorship consisted of locked accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An astounding 62 percent of the censorship cases under Musk\u2019s leadership involved tweets critical of transgenderism. \u201cAt least 182 of the 293 (62%) documented cases of censorship recorded in the CensorTrack.org database for Twitter under Musk involved users being censored for speech critical of the left\u2019s woke \u2018transgender\u2019 narrative,\u201d writes the MRC.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Federalist CEO Sean Davis, other journalists, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene were locked out of Twitter for reporting on the \u201cTrans Day Of Vengeance\u201d following the deaths of three children and three staff members at a Christian school in Tennessee at the hands of a transgender shooter.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter claimed Davis\u2019 objectively true tweet reporting on the panned \u201cTrans Day Of Vengeance\u201d violated the app\u2019s rules \u201cagainst violent speech.\u201d Not only did Twitter lock Davis out of his account, but it also defamed him by falsely claiming he had \u201cthreatened, incited, glorified, or expressed a desire for violence.\u201d \u201cTwitter has a right to ban me for whatever reason it wants, but it doesn\u2019t have a right to viciously lie about me,\u201d Davis\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/29\/twitter-cannot-be-saved-its-time-for-free-speech-proponents-to-let-it-die\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>,\u00a0addressing the ban.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9c901b40abff370128e3336ace100661 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9c901b40abff370128e3336ace100661\">\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1209626143\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\" data-google-query-id=\"CLzEgaqIjP4CFUwJaAgd3WUA3Q\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_2nd_0__container__\" style=\"border: 0pt none; display: inline-block; width: 300px; height: 250px;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/d53e229f10b155f10cd9b1f6a9a922b3.safeframe.googlesyndication.com\/safeframe\/1-0-40\/html\/container.html\" id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_2nd_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" data-is-safeframe=\"true\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\" tabindex=\"0\" data-google-container-id=\"1\" style=\"border: 0px; vertical-align: bottom;\" data-load-complete=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Davis has also been subjected to Twitter\u2019s insidious shadow banning that carried over from the platform\u2019s previous regime. And Federalist Senior Editor John Davidson has been locked out of his account for a full year because he tweeted the biological fact that Rachel Levine, the Biden administration\u2019s transgender assistant secretary for health, is a man. This is 67 more cases than the 226 instances reported by CensorTrack.org from pre-Musk Twitter during the same time last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1004834480\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\" data-google-query-id=\"CIHjhaqIjP4CFUwJaAgd3WUA3Q\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_top_0__container__\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_top_0\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_top_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\" tabindex=\"0\" style=\"border: 0px; vertical-align: bottom;\" data-load-complete=\"true\" data-google-container-id=\"4\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-619dbfff28d50336c947899090a474b9 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-619dbfff28d50336c947899090a474b9\"><\/div>\n<p>The Media Research Center also found Twitter\u2019s methods of censorship recently became more severe. \u201cIn 245 of the 293 (84%) documented cases of censorship on CensorTrack.org, Twitter locked users\u2019 accounts, and in nearly all cases users were required to delete the content to regain access to their accounts,\u201d reports the MRC. \u201cUnder the old Twitter regime, by contrast, only 136 of the 226 (60%) documented cases of censorship consisted of locked accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An astounding 62 percent of the censorship cases under Musk\u2019s leadership involved tweets critical of transgenderism. \u201cAt least 182 of the 293 (62%) documented cases of censorship recorded in the CensorTrack.org database for Twitter under Musk involved users being censored for speech critical of the left\u2019s woke \u2018transgender\u2019 narrative,\u201d writes the MRC.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Federalist CEO Sean Davis, other journalists, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene were locked out of Twitter for reporting on the \u201cTrans Day Of Vengeance\u201d following the deaths of three children and three staff members at a Christian school in Tennessee at the hands of a transgender shooter.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter claimed Davis\u2019 objectively true tweet reporting on the panned \u201cTrans Day Of Vengeance\u201d violated the app\u2019s rules \u201cagainst violent speech.\u201d Not only did Twitter lock Davis out of his account, but it also defamed him by falsely claiming he had \u201cthreatened, incited, glorified, or expressed a desire for violence.\u201d \u201cTwitter has a right to ban me for whatever reason it wants, but it doesn\u2019t have a right to viciously lie about me,\u201d Davis\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/29\/twitter-cannot-be-saved-its-time-for-free-speech-proponents-to-let-it-die\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>,\u00a0addressing the ban.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9c901b40abff370128e3336ace100661 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9c901b40abff370128e3336ace100661\">\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1209626143\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\" data-google-query-id=\"CLzEgaqIjP4CFUwJaAgd3WUA3Q\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_2nd_0__container__\" style=\"border: 0pt none; display: inline-block; width: 300px; height: 250px;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/d53e229f10b155f10cd9b1f6a9a922b3.safeframe.googlesyndication.com\/safeframe\/1-0-40\/html\/container.html\" id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1011927,45516661\/TFC_300_by_250_2nd_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" data-is-safeframe=\"true\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\" tabindex=\"0\" data-google-container-id=\"1\" style=\"border: 0px; vertical-align: bottom;\" data-load-complete=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Davis has also been subjected to Twitter\u2019s insidious shadow banning that carried over from the platform\u2019s previous regime. And Federalist Senior Editor John Davidson has been locked out of his account for a full year because he tweeted the biological fact that Rachel Levine, the Biden administration\u2019s transgender assistant secretary for health, is a man.
