The data, analyzed by researchers at Boston University,\u00a0showed that children in Philadelphia faced the highest increase in gun violence, with fatal and non-fatal gun assaults increasing from 30 per 100,000 to about 62 per 100,000 during the pandemic. Rates in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles also went up. The study also found that Black children were particularly affected, with data showing they were 100 times more likely than white children to be shot during this period. <\/p>\n<p>This data adds to the various concerns that surfaced regarding the consequences of the pandemic on children, which includes a Stanford University study showing physical and mental health problems caused by lockdowns. The study found that teenagers&#8217; brains were physically altered and \u201caged\u201d during the pandemic. Meanwhile, reports suggest that children in red states, where they had less time away from in-person instruction, showed better academic progress than their blue state counterparts, where online schooling was adopted.
