Despite the success of the <em>Game of Thrones<\/em> franchise, <em>House of the Dragon<\/em> did not draw the same level of viewership as its predecessor and elicited mixed reviews. Season 1 featured several jarring time jumps and character recasts that detracted from the tightness of the narrative. The source material was also considered weaker than that of the original series. <\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\">Although season 2 is in production, it will not be released in 2023, as confirmed by chief content officer Casey Bloys. The new season may not debut until 2024, possibly in the fall. This means that the narrative will be progression-based and that the show will not recast any of the actors for the characters they portray. <\/p>\n<p data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\">Despite the shift to a tighter narrative and a fixed timeline, it remains to be seen whether it will attract enough viewers.
