I mean, I really worry about stuff like that; it keeps me up at night, but many people still don\u2019t \u2014 they think that the price tag for green initiatives is too high. Who or what do you see as the biggest obstacles now in making real change?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, I mean, first of all, Joy, thanks for this question,\u201d Granholm replied. \u201cI mean, Joe Biden has said when he hears the words \u2018climate change,\u2019 he thinks of jobs, and the opportunity here for Americans in every pocket of the country to experience both the benefits of cost reduction as a result of clean energy, as well as jobs, is so exciting. It\u2019s why I\u2019m so honored to be part of this, because the mission here is about deploying clean energy and about creating jobs all over the country, all kinds of jobs for all kinds of people, and with respect to cost, I mean, just as one example, Joy, I mean, I drive a Chevy Bolt, which is an electric vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Granholm, who attended the University of California, Berkeley before getting her law degree at Harvard, continued, \u201cI don\u2019t have to buy gasoline. The average person who gets an electric vehicle saves $600 a year because you don\u2019t have to fill it up. I have solar panels on my house. So I drive on sunshine. That\u2019s a fantastic technological advancement and that\u2019s what the Department of Energy is all about, is solutions like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">VIDEO \u2013 Energy Sec. Granholm: \u2018I Have Solar Panels on My House So I Drive on Sunshine\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PFsEFmHZQ1\">https:\/\/t.co\/PFsEFmHZQ1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Grabien (@GrabienMedia) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GrabienMedia\/status\/1367179313364295681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 3, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Granholm served as governor of Michigan between 2003-2011. \u201cMichigan led the nation in unemployment from April 2006 to May of 2010, and it is estimated the state lost more than 600,000 jobs during her eight-year tenure,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/auto\/2010\/12\/gov_jennifer_granholm_job_loss.html\">MLive<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigancapitolconfidential.com\/20582\">Michigan Capitol Confidential<\/a> claimed in 2015, \u201cDuring Granholm\u2019s eight-year tenure as governor, Michigan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigancapitolconfidential.com\/20582\">lost more jobs<\/a>&nbsp;than any other state in the nation and had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigancapitolconfidential.com\/20563\">among the worst economic collapses<\/a>&nbsp;of any going back to the Great Depression. Michigan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigancapitolconfidential.com\/20427\">lost 576,900 jobs<\/a>&nbsp;over Granholm\u2019s two terms and led the nation in unemployment for 45 consecutive months from May 2006 to January 2010.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Douglas, an associate professor of economics at the University of Michigan-Flint, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigancapitolconfidential.com\/20582\">said<\/a> Granholm\u2019s policies were highly counter-productive, but cautioned, \u201cI think you can make convincing arguments that the yearly budget crisis and can-kicking contributed to job losses, as businesses hate uncertainty, as well as diverting state resources towards crony capitalist endeavors such as movie studios, green energy, and so forth.\u201d He said the primary cause of the job losses was rising gas prices that choked demand for SUVs as well as major auto companies losing sight of consumer preferences.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
