The message was suicidal, and alluded to plans for the massacre. Hale sent the message to a former basketball teammate, Averianna Patton, who attempted to talk her down.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hale&#8217;s message to Patton read: &#8220;You&#8217;ll probably hear about me on the news after I die. See you again in another life.&#8221; Hale also said that she wanted to die and that &#8220;something bad is about to happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Patton, who had known Hale since middle school and said she had been suicidal in the past, tried to comfort and encourage her. However, Hale replied that she was &#8220;so sorry&#8221; but &#8220;I just need to die.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The first 911 call reporting the shooting came in at 10:13 a.m., just minutes after Patton received the message. Hale killed three nine-year-old students and three adults at the private Christian school. Hale once attended the school.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Nashville police released body cam footage of the incident, showing officers engaging and shooting Hale, who was armed. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Joe Biden used the occasion to call for the banning of &#8220;assault weapons,&#8221; as he seeks to tighten gun control laws.
