Kavanaugh recently survived an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/would-be-kavanaugh-assassin-said-he-was-shooting-for-3-justices-fbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assassination attempt<\/a> from a far-left activist. Her accusation made headlines during Kavanaugh\u2019s contentious confirmation hearings in 2018, when Democrats tried to block him from ascending to the high court.<\/p>\n<p>Ilana Dutton, a law student who the school last year named one of its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.columbia.edu\/news\/archive\/meet-2022-max-berger-71-public-interestpublic-service-fellows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Public Interest\/Public Service Fellows<\/a>,\u201d wrote: \u201cEmbarrassing. To every CLS survivor who sees this, I believe you and am so sorry that this school doesn\u2019t seem to care about the harm that this man caused.\u201d The fellowship award boasts that Dutton \u201caspires to a career \u2026 abolishing immigration detention in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Law schools also allow far-left students to attend for free by doling out \u201cpublic interest\u201d scholarships, while others attend the expensive institutions because if they work for a nonprofit law firm for 10 years, their loans will be forgiven under federal law. Those students were surprised that the university would acknowledge a non-liberal judge.<\/p>\n<p>Hannah Rosner received a full scholarship from Columbia Law for \u201cpublic service\u201d but did not appear grateful, writing: \u201cThis is disgusting. I wish I was surprised to see it still up after a week but unfortunately as an alum I am not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Columbia Law School Dean Gillian Lester called Rosner and another student \u201caccomplished and ambitious leaders who exemplify the spirit of public service,\u201d in announcing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.columbia.edu\/news\/archive\/hannah-rosner-21-and-caitlin-lowell-21-named-inaugural-greene-public-service-scholars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scholarship<\/a>. \u201cRosner, who grew up in Connecticut, studied history at Columbia College, where she wrote her senior thesis on the civil rights movement,\u201d the award said.<\/p>\n<p>Bryson Malcolm, who received a \u201c2018 1L <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcglinchey.com\/insights\/bryson-malcolm-honored-with-2018-mcglinchey-stafford-1l-diversity-fellowship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diversity Fellowship<\/a>\u201d from McGlinchey Stafford PLLC, wrote: \u201cRead the room @columbialawschool. As an alumnus, this is shameful and unnecessary on so many levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nima Binara, a Columbia Law grad, lawyer for Google, and former Department of Justice national security lawyer, asked, \u201cDid the discussion touch upon judicial temperament, or the outrageousness of having a man credibly accused of sexual assault making decisions about women\u2019s bodily autonomy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jen Morton, a third-year law student and former summer associate at white-shoe law firm Ropes &#038; Gray LLP, wrote: \u201cAs a current 3L\u2014this is so incredibly shameful and disrespectful, especially to SA survivors in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Melanie Mignucci, a Columbia Law student who is \u201cinterested in pursuing social justice lawyering in service of workers\u2019 rights,\u201d wrote: \u201cA slap in the face to every survivor at this school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One commenter claimed there was a \u201cswastika found in the men\u2019s bathroom at the law school over the weekend\u201d and it must have been drawn by a member of the Federalist Society.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image\"><\/div>\n<p>But the most notable comments came from the official Instagram account of an academic office of Columbia University: The Center for Engaged Pedagogy, housed in Barnard College, Columbia\u2019s women\u2019s college.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWTF is wrong with you,\u201d the Center commented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAh yes. Every day I wake up wondering what is the day in the life of someone who strips people\u2019s rights away,\u201d it said in a second post.<\/p>\n<p>The Center, which says it helps design curriculum and methods of teaching for all disciplines, promotes \u201cAbolitionist Pedagogy Resources for Instructors, Staff, and Students,\u201d referring to the idea the police and prisons should be abolished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CEP invites faculty, students, and staff to participate in a spring discussion group and incubation space focused on using abolitionist thinking to challenge our existing pedagogical practices and the way we live our lives. Participants will use abolitionist values to create personal and pedagogical praxes, come up with actionable plans toward a meaningful material transformation of the world,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>It refers students and staff to works like \u201cCLOSE THE PRISONS! OPEN THE BORDERS!: How Abolition is Shaping Queer and Trans Politics,\u201d and on March 24 pushed students to become political activists with a session focused on \u201cIdentifying projects and making commitments: How do we put our abolitionist frameworks into action?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018carceral state\u2019 describes the governing and legal institutions, as well as the policies and practices that organize and enact capture, punishment, and policing. The carceral state normalizes gendered antiblackness and racial-colonial violence while simultaneously maintaining these as the foundational conditions required for social order and racial capitalism,\u201d a teaching <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220215131056\/http:\/criticalresistance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/CR_GuideforTeachingLearningAbolition-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guide<\/a> promoted by the Center explains.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States, the world\u2019s largest jailer, is also the world\u2019s greatest perpetrator of war and the most extensive purveyor of human rights atrocities,\u201d says one <a href=\"https:\/\/harvardlawreview.org\/2019\/04\/abolition-and-reparations-histories-of-resistance-transformative-justice-and-accountability\/\">paper<\/a> promoted by the Center.<\/p>\n<p>It instructed how professors should \u201cdevelop an <a href=\"https:\/\/cep.barnard.edu\/equity-and-accessibility#antiracist-classrooms-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-racist agenda<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou may sit with the question of what accountability means to you and what practices you can create as an instructor for students to imagine themselves\u2014both individually and collectively\u2014as accountable subjects within a society structured by multiple and interacting forms of domination and exploitation,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat practices, values, and commitments do students and instructors have to become accountable to when they draw from legacies of black feminism?\u201d it asked. (Barnard is only five percent black.)<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-1306\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Despite being housed in a women\u2019s college, it advocated professors \u201cUsing gender-neutral language and respecting people\u2019s pronouns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire sent an email to <a href=\"https:\/\/cep.barnard.edu\/staff-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Melissa Wright<\/a>, the Center\u2019s interim executive director, asking about the propriety of an academic institution asking \u201cwtf is wrong with you\u201d of a law school for posting a picture of a Supreme Court justice.<\/p>\n<p>She did not respond, but appeared to forward the email to a group of people who used it to target a journalist.
