In one email, Grier decried the \u201csenseless acts of violence\u201d against Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin \u2014 who has since admitted to wielding a knife before being shot by police.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Grier\u2019s email claims that \u201csystemic racism\u201d \u201cpermeates\u201d America and the violence against Blake exemplifies America\u2019s \u201cdisregard for the value of Black lives.\u201d She explicitly called on employees to become \u201canti-racist\u201d as she believes that \u201cit\u2019s not enough to be not racist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A portion of Grier\u2019s email entitled, \u201cleading courageously in uncertain times,\u201d reads:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><span>I have been following the news on the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where protests and demonstrations continue in response to these senseless acts of violence against our Black communities. The systemic racism that permeates in our country is unconscionable. Let us use this latest injustice to strengthen our resolve for swift and meaningful action to end racism.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span>The depths of tragedy inflicted in every one of these situations is unbearable, as is the cumulative impact of the bias and the disregard for the value of Black lives. I have said this before, but it bears repeating: it\u2019s not enough to be not racist. We need to speak out and take action against racism and discrimination. We must be anti-racist\u2014and at EY, our resolve to do and to be just that is stronger than ever.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>In a separate email, titled \u201cShattered,\u201d Grier doubled-down on her calls for anti-racist activism and asked that employees \u201cwith privilege\u201d do more than express \u201cregret and sorrow from the sidelines.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThose of us with privilege must do more than expressing regret and sorrow from the sidelines. Public statements of outrage and condemnation are important, but wholly ineffectual if not accompanied by our commitment to meaningful, sustained action,\u201d Grier wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s not enough to be not racist \u2014\u00a0we need to speak out and take action against racism and discrimination. Said more explicitly: we need to be ANTI-RACIST.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The push for \u201canti-racism\u201d and critical race theory, the theory that claims that America is inherently and irredeemably racist, is not exclusive to Grier. The company at-large has admitted that it is using the \u201ccurrent events\u201d in American society as a \u201ccatalyst\u201d for pushing a new ideology. Internal communications cite mandatory \u201canti-bias\u201d training, which has become a growing trend in corporate America.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to internal documents, the company is in the process of reviewing \u201cinternal talent and business practices to further advance equity across race.\u201d This includes their recruiting, hiring, and promotion practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a presentation slide sent out to employees, the company stated that its \u201cprimary focus\u201d for expanding diversity is with \u201cBlack\/African American\u201d people. The company has also emphasized \u201cethnicity recruitment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>EY advertises on its<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ey.com\/en_us\/purpose\/ey-commitment-to-anti-racism\"><span>website<\/span><\/a> <span>that it has created an \u201cinternal anti-racism microsite,\u201d which is described as a place for employees to \u201cshare their personal stories and experiences\u201d and \u201cfind resources to truly learn, understand, and be anti-racist together.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Internal resources for becoming \u201canti-racist\u201d include books by Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo \u2014 two of the most controversial diversity and inclusion figures in American thought.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Suggested readings include \u201cStamped from the Beginning: the Definitive History of Racist Ideas\u201d and \u201cHow to Be An Anti-Racist,\u201d by Ibram X. Kendi, \u201cThe New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness,\u201d by Michelle Alexander, and \u201cWhite Fragility,\u201d by Robin DiAngelo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Other resources for employees include the Black Lives Matter website, an article on why saying \u201cAll Lives Matter\u201d must stop, and the \u201cresponding to everyday bigotry\u201d guide from the left-leaning Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). A subsection of the resources guide suggests that EY employees talk about race with their children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>EY did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>An internal communications document obtained by The Daily Wire lists talking points for \u201cconversations with reporters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A likely response to a reporter\u2019s question about the company\u2019s commitment to \u201canti-racism\u201d would read, \u201csystemic racism, discrimination, and injustice against the Black community is a human rights crisis. It affects our world, our families, the EY family, our clients, and we have to elevate our emphasis on celebrating and supporting human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>The company is backing its \u201canti-racism\u201d messaging with lucrative donations to \u201csocial justice\u201d organizations. According to internal documents, the company plans to donate $3 million to social justice causes \u2014 $1 million to The National Urban League, $1 million to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, and $1 million to charitable causes in communities across the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>EY will also allegedly be \u201cassessing alignment of political contributions\u201d to match its commitment to anti-racism. This includes the organization\u2019s political action committee, EYPAC. The EYPAC has announced that it will advocate for policies that \u201calign with the EY values of inclusiveness\u201d and \u201ccommitment against racism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.followthemoney.org\/entity-details?eid=931\"><span>FollowTheMoney.org<\/span><\/a><span>, EYPAC has given $13.5 billion in political contributions over more than 30 years, $6.8 million to Republicans, and $6.1 million to Democrats. While the company claims to push progressive values, it also donated to former-Sen. David Perdue in the influential Georgia Senate run-off. According to public records, the company did not contribute to the campaigns for Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) or Sen. John Ossoff (D-GA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Between 2018 and 2020, the EYPAC has donated to approximately 242 Democrats and 218 Republicans, including notable Senate races in the 2020 election. The PAC backed Democratic incumbent Sen. Gary Peters in Michigan and Republican Sens. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham. The PAC also donated to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz\u2019s contentious 2018 Senate race against failed presidential candidate Beto O\u2019Rourke.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>EY has received internal pushback and complaints from employees who find the company\u2019s commitment to \u201cdiversity\u201d a disguise for \u201cdiscrimination.\u201d According to complaints filed through the company\u2019s Human Resources department, the company has responded to complaints by affirming its commitment to \u201canti-racism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
