He recently passed the largest revenue split in state history and enjoys a high approval status. Steve Daines( R-MT ), who has been treading a political precipice by supporting candidates with general election appeals while attempting to keep his ardent supporters of former President <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> at bay. Sen. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rick-scott\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rick Scott<\/a>( R &#8211; FL ), Daines&#8217; predecessor as NRSC chief, underwent criticism for Republicans&#8217; subpar performance in the 2022 midterm elections, and this strategy shifts from him.<\/p>\n<p>Since Justice is the only Republican in the ruby-red say who polls professionally against Manchin, a lifelong friend who has turned political rival, Daines and Senate Minority Leader <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mitch-mcconnell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mitch McConnell<\/a> ( R &#8211; KY) have spent decades trying to convince Justice to go next year. Manchin, a former government himself, had supported Justice when the latter announced his club change in his filled 2016 presidential essential.<\/p>\n<p>Daines declined to say whether his commission was constantly pressuring him to run for governor, saying that&#8221; Obviously, he&#8217;s starting out in a solid position right now.<\/p>\n<p>Justice stated that he is leaning toward running, and all indications\u2014 including the sale of his coal company, meetings with Daines and texts with McConnell \u2014 have supported this claim.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin has vowed to hold off on making any decisions until this year&#8217;s side. Jim and I go back a very long time. And if he were to lose the Republican chief, I believe it would be a resounding victory. Whatever he does, I respect it, and if we ever find ourselves in a competition against one another, it will be one that is strong and competitive.<\/p>\n<p>God thank them, it&#8217;ll make entertaining to watch their chief, Manchin said, adding that Justice&#8217;s programs were not affecting his own.
