And who could blame them? With <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/20\/how-bidens-social-security-demagoguery-is-stoking-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skyrocketing inflation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/21\/the-silicon-valley-bank-bailout-sends-exactly-the-wrong-message-and-endangers-the-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">banks collapsing<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/21\/el-paso-bridge-rush-is-what-losing-operational-control-of-our-border-looks-like\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wide-open southern border<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/24\/merrick-garlands-department-of-justice-is-a-threat-to-the-republic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">politically weaponized federal law enforcement agencies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/editorials\/bidens-gender-transition-agenda-is-harming-children\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ideological grooming of children<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/06\/in-spy-balloon-faceoff-between-the-u-s-and-red-china-everyone-lost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unchecked Chinese surveillance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/23\/yes-biden-is-hiding-his-plan-to-rig-the-2022-midterm-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal interference in U.S. elections<\/a>, and more, it\u2019s completely understandable for millions of Americans to be on the lookout for potential candidates who could get the country on the right track. <\/p>\n<p>While important, the 2024 GOP presidential primary \u2014 which has already attracted the attention of prominent conservative figures \u2014 doesn\u2019t begin for several months. In the meantime, there are significant vehicles American restorationists could use to defeat leftist radicalism. Chief among them is state legislatures, but conservatives are squandering the opportunity to advance their legislative agenda while blue state lawmakers are successfully implanting radical new legislation that\u2019s having a major impact on the cultural and political landscape of the country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2018371914\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b70644400b27dd358df776e11e163277 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b70644400b27dd358df776e11e163277\"><\/div>\n<p>As of March 2023, Republicans have <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/State_government_trifectas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">22 state trifectas<\/a>, in which they control the governorship and both chambers of the state legislature. These GOP-led states have the ability to advance conservative legislation without fear of Democrats blocking it. <\/p>\n<p>The most notable Republican to use as a mechanism of advancing conservative priorities is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Since taking office, DeSantis has employed every tool at his disposal to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/10\/the-big-midterm-lesson-defensive-victories-on-the-right-arent-going-to-save-the-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wage war<\/a> on the left\u2019s institutional and cultural jihad by enacting strong, conservative policies. From <a href=\"https:\/\/dr.flgov.com\/2022\/04\/25\/governor-ron-desantis-signs-bill-to-strengthen-floridas-election-integrity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election integrity<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/26\/democrats-gaslighting-about-covid-school-closures-wont-work-because-we-have-receipts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Covid<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/06\/desantis-forces-college-board-to-temper-anti-american-classes-but-the-war-has-just-begun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">combatting leftist ideology<\/a> in education and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/14\/desantis-yanks-hyatt-regency-miamis-liquor-license-for-hosting-holiday-drag-show-with-kids-present\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">protecting children<\/a> from inappropriate drag shows, the Florida governor has utilized his platform and government powers to protect the basic rights of his constituents.<\/p>\n<h2>Red States Gone Blue<\/h2>\n<p>Not every Republican-led state is using its power to fight leftists\u2019 cultural revolution like Florida, however. In some instances, several so-called \u201cred states\u201d are even helping Democrats advance their radical agenda.<\/p>\n<p>At a time when Biden\u2019s lax immigration policies have led to a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/21\/el-paso-bridge-rush-is-what-losing-operational-control-of-our-border-looks-like\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">record number<\/a> of illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestatepublicradio.org\/politics-government\/2023-03-01\/bill-providing-drivers-licenses-to-undocumented-residents-advances-to-senate-floor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Idaho<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/op-ed\/horowitz-why-is-oklahoma-gov-kevin-stitt-pushing-drivers-licenses-for-illegal-aliens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oklahoma<\/a> Republicans apparently felt it necessary to further incentivize such lawbreaking by introducing legislation granting illegal aliens modified driver\u2019s licenses. The Oklahoma <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/OK\/drafts\/SB669\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bill<\/a> \u2014 while introduced by a Republican \u2014 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/op-ed\/horowitz-why-is-oklahoma-gov-kevin-stitt-pushing-drivers-licenses-for-illegal-aliens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly<\/a> \u201cauthored by Democrat\u00a0immigration attorney Michael Brooks-Jimene, who is also on the board of a\u00a0group supporting amnesty.\u201d Meanwhile, the Idaho legislation (<a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/ID\/bill\/S1081\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SB 1081<\/a>) is so left-wing that it\u2019s earned the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acluidaho.org\/en\/legislation\/2023-sb-1081-restricted-drivers-license\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support<\/a> of the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/aclu-of-idaho-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACLU chapter<\/a>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ce4fe9a48b4ae590f564977dfea5417e fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ce4fe9a48b4ae590f564977dfea5417e\"><\/div>\n<p>But it\u2019s not just immigration where state Republicans are advancing Democrat priorities. As The Blaze\u2019s Daniel Horowitz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/op-ed\/horowitz-why-are-gop-governors-continuing-to-push-the-destructive-green-energy-scam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, GOP governors in states such as South Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Wyoming, and Ohio have all helped further Democrats\u2019 \u201cgreen energy\u201d scam. While Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has used \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/op-ed\/horowitz-oklahoma-stitt-touts-green-agenda\">taxpayer funding<\/a>\u00a0to build up the impractical scale of electric vehicle infrastructure needed to phase out gas-powered cars,\u201d\u00a0Ohio Gov. DeWine <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/KMzmE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recently bragged<\/a>\u00a0about his state being an \u201cemerging force in electric vehicle and EV parts manufacturing.\u201d DeWine\u2019s position on electric vehicles isn\u2019t that different from Biden\u2019s, whose administration has regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/08\/5-reasons-bidens-electric-vehicles-are-a-boondoggle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hyped<\/a> the use of these expensive automobiles while simultaneously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/14\/biden-administration-hurries-to-protect-the-ruling-class-but-habitually-abandons-hardworking-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declaring war<\/a> on the fossil fuel industry.<\/p>\n<p>Even more shocking is the surrender of Republican strongholds\u2019 when it comes to protecting children from radical \u201ctrans the kids\u201d activists. Earlier this month, the GOP-controlled West Virginia legislature passed a bill banning sex change surgeries, cross-sex hormones, and puberty blockers for minors. Prior to the bill\u2019s passage, however, Senate GOP leadership <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/03\/12\/gop-west-virginia-transgender-sex-change-transgender-minors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">caved<\/a> to outside pressure, adding a last-minute amendment allowing exceptions for gender dysphoric children deemed \u201cat significant risk of suicide.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Claims that barring these surgeries for minors will lead them to commit suicide is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/gender\/commentary\/does-gender-affirming-care-trans-kids-actually-prevent-suicide-heres-what-the\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">faux talking point<\/a> espoused by leftist adults seeking to impose their ideology on children.<\/p>\n<p>Wyoming GOP Gov. Mark Gordon displayed similar cowardice earlier this week when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/equality-not-elitism\/wyoming-governor-refuses-sign-bill-males-womens-sports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declined<\/a> to sign legislation preventing boys from competing in girls\u2019 sports. While Gordon said he\u2019ll allow the bill to become law, he claimed it \u201csends a harmful message\u201d that gender dysphoric individuals \u201cdo not deserve the same opportunities as others.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a9a8852931d55ec2c1427f5520413369 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a9a8852931d55ec2c1427f5520413369\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI reiterate my belief that hate and discrimination have no place in Wyoming,\u201d he said. \u201cAs we move forward over the next couple of years, I urge the legislature to carefully consider policies that promote inclusion and equality for all individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Blue States Plow Ahead<\/h2>\n<p>Contrast such GOP fecklessness with blue states, where Democrats are advancing their party\u2019s radical agenda without remorse. Since taking trifecta control of the state government in the 2022 midterms, for instance, Minnesota Democrats have wasted no time in passing every leftist bill imaginable before the end of this year\u2019s legislative session.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Democrat Gov. Tim Walz <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/voting-rights-restored-55000-minnesota-felons-new-voting\/story?id=97628054\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed<\/a> into law <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/bills\/bill.php?b=House&#038;f=HF0028&#038;ssn=0&#038;y=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HF 28<\/a>, which will allow convicted felons to vote once released from prison but prior to parole or probation. An estimated 55,000 formerly incarcerated criminals will now be able to register to vote under the new law. (Prior\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/icdUG#selection-2241.39-2241.75\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">analyses<\/a>\u00a0have shown most convicts register as Democrats rather than Republicans).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/27\/with-a-split-congress-democrats-are-taking-their-election-takeover-scheme-to-the-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overhauling Minnesota election law<\/a> to benefit their party in elections, state Democrats have also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/19\/minnesota-poised-to-legalize-infanticide-nuke-protections-for-women-and-babies-in-radical-abortion-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eradicated legal protections<\/a> for unborn children and babies that survive botched abortions. Signed into law in January, the wrongly-named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/bills\/bill.php?b=house&#038;f=HF1&#038;ssn=0&#038;y=2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Protect Reproductive Options Act<\/a> lifts prohibitions on taxpayer-funded abortions and nullifies provisions in Minnesota law requiring parents or guardians to be notified if their underage daughter got an abortion. According to one legal expert, the law goes \u201cfar beyond any interpretation of the Minnesota Supreme Court case\u00a0<em>Doe v. Gomez<\/em>,\u201d the state\u2019s version of\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan Democrats, who also won trifecta control of their state government in November, are taking advantage of their majorities to advance extreme, leftist policies. Following voters\u2019 passage of a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/13\/conservatives-cant-let-democrats-midterm-assault-on-kids-and-elections-fall-through-the-cracks-in-michigan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022 ballot amendment<\/a> that enshrines unlimited access to abortion and so-called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/12\/michigan-is-hiding-a-childrens-constitutional-right-to-genital-amputation-in-its-abortion-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gender affirming care<\/a>\u201d into the state constitution, Michigan Democrats recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michiganradio.org\/politics-government\/2023-03-08\/abortion-law-repeal-lined-up-for-senate-passage-whitmers-signature\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">passed<\/a> legislation aimed at repealing a now-moot law that prohibited most abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Led by Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan Democrats are also in the process of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/michigan-senate-democrats-vote-repeal-decade-old-right-work-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repealing<\/a> a decade-old right-to-work law that \u201cprohibits public and private unions from requiring that nonunion employees pay union dues even if the union bargains on their behalf.\u201d Leftist legislators have furthermore used the tragic shooting at Michigan State University to move forward several <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/michigan-senate-oks-proposals-expand-175418895.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gun control<\/a> measures, including <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/13\/there-are-many-potential-problems-with-the-bipartisan-gun-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unconstitutional red flag laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Predictably, none of these bills would have prevented the shooting or addressed the soft-on-crime policies pursued by leftist prosecutors \u2014 one of whom <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/michigan-state-shooter-had-prior-felony-gun-charge-dismissed-by-progressive-prosecutor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dismissed<\/a> the shooter\u2019s prior\u00a0felony firearm charges.<\/p>\n<h2>The Solution Is Us<\/h2>\n<p>The difference between Democrat and Republican legislative priorities could not be starker. While conservatives are justifiably outraged at the GOP\u2019s weakness, it ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/22\/where-republicans-stand-on-transgender-insanity-should-be-a-litmus-test-for-their-political-futures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">falls upon us<\/a> to hold these incompetent politicos accountable. <\/p>\n<p>As documented in this article, some of the most important cultural issues of our time are being debated in states throughout the country. Rather than worrying about a presidential primary that won\u2019t take place for several months, American restorationists should direct their energy inward toward state legislatures and pressure elected Republicans to enact policies that stymie Biden\u2019s radical agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Despite all the media hype, there will be plenty of time between now and next year to decide who should be the 2024 GOP presidential nominee.
