While the effects of the stroke have been gradually fading, he still isn\u2019t able to taste food.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMostly it was a loud wake-up call,\u201d Sorkin told the publication. \u201cI thought I was one of those people who could eat whatever he wanted, smoke as much as he wanted, and it\u2019s not going to affect me. Boy, was I wrong.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Academy Award winner said later, \u201cThere was a minute when I was concerned that I was never going to be able to write again, and I was concerned in the short-term that I wasn\u2019t going to be able to continue writing \u2018Camelot.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sorkin also said he never intended to discuss what happened publicly but is now deciding to speak up in hopes of helping someone else.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf it\u2019ll get one person to stop smoking, then it\u2019ll be helpful,\u201d the screenwriter said, mentioning how he smoked two packs of cigarettes daily for several years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cLet me make this very, very clear,\u201d Sorkin insisted. \u201cI\u2019m fine. I wouldn\u2019t want anyone to think I can\u2019t work. I\u2019m fine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><a class=\"c-link c-link--focus-visible\" href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-457534\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Sorkin\u2019s 2018 Broadway adaptation of \u201cTo Kill a Mockingbird\u201d was nominated for nine Tony Awards. His newest project, \u201cCamelot,\u201d is scheduled to debut on April 13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Hollywood creator is a liberal but spoke out against some leftist agenda items in the past, including the trend of only casting LGBT actors to play LGBT roles. \u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking and a little chilling to see members of the artistic community resegregating ourselves,\u201d he said in 2021 while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/west-wing-creator-aaron-sorkin-says-woke-identity-based-casting-is-mother-of-all-empty-gestures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discussing<\/a> \u201crepresentation\u201d in casting<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou can act being attracted to someone, but can\u2019t act gay or straight. So this notion that only gay actors should play gay characters? That only a Cuban actor should play Desi?
