This newest version of the bill goes further than previous bills and clarifies what types of investments are allowed and banned. The reintroduced bill follows two similar bills proposed earlier this year that failed to pass. Reps. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) and Chip Roy (R-TX) reintroduced the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/345?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22trust+in+congress+act%22%5D%7D&#038;s=2&#038;r=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trust in Congress Act<\/a> in January requiring members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children to put all stock investments in a blind trust until they leave office. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) also proposed the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/439?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22PELOSI+act%22%5D%7D&#038;s=1&#038;r=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act<\/a>, aka the PELOSI Act, in February, which was never passed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of Congress are elected to serve the people, not our own financial interests. As long as members and their spouses are allowed to trade individual stocks \u2013 the door to corruption remains open.
