In the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California&#8217;s case, California Rifle &#038; Pistol Association v. Bonta, Judge Cormac J. Carney issued a preliminary injunction against the state&#8217;s Unsafe Handgun Act and its handgun roster. The judge wrote that the roster fell short of the government&#8217;s regulations, resulting in forcing people to rely on models that are over 16 years old.<\/p>\n<p>The judge determined that the roster violated the Second Amendment and stated, &#8220;Californians have the constitutional right to acquire and use state-of-the-art handguns to protect themselves. They should not be forced to settle for decade-old models of handguns to ensure that they remain safe inside or outside the home.&#8221; Carney dismissed the argument that gun regulations should be solely based on public interest and stressed that these regulations should align with the Constitution and traditional regulations.<\/p>\n<p>To quote the judge, &#8220;To justify its regulation, the government may not simply posit that the regulation promotes an important interest.
