At issue is a $130,000 hush money payment that Trump&#8217;s then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, wired to porn star Stormy Daniels (also known as Stephanie Gregory Clifford), in the 2016 election homestretch. The payment was meant to keep her silent about an alleged decade-old affair with Trump. <\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors are investigating whether the Trump Organization falsified business records to conceal reimbursing Cohen for the payment. Reports suggest that prosecutors aim to bring a misdemeanor charge for record falsifications and add it to the federal campaign finance violation charge so that they can slap Trump with a felony charge.
