Mayor <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/muriel-bowser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Muriel Bowser<\/a> has initiated an investigation into Falcicchio&#8217;s abrupt departure last week. <\/p>\n<p>In a press release, Debra Katz and Kayla Morin, the employee&#8217;s attorneys, disclosed their client&#8217;s allegations of &#8220;longstanding&#8221; harassment by Falcicchio. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our client is courageous. She came forward to ensure accountability and protect other women. Given the gravity of our client&#8217;s allegations\u2014which involve unwelcome advances and sexual contact\u2014we ask the media to respect her privacy,&#8221; the attorneys stated. <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEWS: Two attorneys say they represent a former D.C. government employee who experienced &#8220;serious allegations of sexual harassment&#8221; at the hands of John Falcicchio, the former deputy mayor for planning and economic development who left the Bowser administration last week. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ou4ib23EZg\">pic.twitter.com\/Ou4ib23EZg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Martin Austermuhle (@maustermuhle) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maustermuhle\/status\/1637883251741040643?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 20, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Falcicchio had been Mayor Bowser&#8217;s right-hand man since before her election in 2014, according to an official close to Bowser. <\/p>\n<p>His departure was announced in a release on Friday, and Bowser issued a statement regarding the investigation on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know you have many questions, but please understand that as this is a sensitive matter that includes privacy concerns, we will not be able to discuss it any further,&#8221; the statement read. &#8220;However, I am able to say that the circumstances of his departure led me to initiate an investigation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This investigation does not involve any allegations of improprieties related to business transactions,&#8221; the statement continued. <\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, &#8220;There is no reason for our important work on behalf of the residents of the District of Columbia to slow down. I have every confidence in my new Chief of Staff, Lindsey Parker, and in our Interim Deputy Mayor, Keith Anderson, and in the 37,000 employees of D.C.
