This follows 18,000 jobs that were previously announced in January. Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy, announced the new job cuts on Monday, which will affect various departments such as advertising, Amazon Web Services, Twitch live-streaming service, as well as the People Experience and Technology Solutions team.<\/p>\n<p>In a memo about the layoffs, Jassy explained that previous years saw a significant increase in headcount, which has now become inefficient, given the current economic uncertainty. The company plans to be more streamlined in its costs and headcount at present, hence the decision to cut jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The January announcement did not include the latest layoffs due to incomplete analyses, as some teams were not yet finished with their assessments by fall.
