In response to Trump&#8217;s recent assertion that Pence shares blame for the Jan. 6 riot, Pence noted that at least one of Trump&#8217;s lawyers seemed to agree with this sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>Pence told Johnathan Karl in an interview for ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; &#8220;I know one of the attorneys that was advising the President said the same thing in a text on January the sixth but his attorneys were wrong.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump rebuked Pence last week as he considers a 2024 presidential run, saying, &#8220;Had he sent the votes back to the legislatures, they wouldn\u2019t have had a problem with Jan. 6, so in many ways, you can blame him.&#8221; In response, Pence stated that &#8220;President Trump is wrong&#8221; and emphasized that he and his team carried out their duty that day by following the &#8220;express language of the Constitution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pence also revealed that he and Trump &#8220;parted amicably&#8221; on Jan. 20, but after hearing Trump&#8217;s &#8220;return to that type of rhetoric in the spring of 2021, we&#8217;ve just gone our separate ways.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pence has recently announced trips to Iowa and New Hampshire, fueling speculation about a possible 2024 presidential bid.
