Levine is a biological male who identifies herself as transgender. &#8220;the highest levels&#8221; Biden administration, and is &#8220;optimistic&#8221; It will soon become normal.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Levine is praised by pediatricians &#8220;gender affirming care,&#8221; This is a term that refers to hormonal injections, puberty blocks, and sex change surgeries at the Pediatric Grand Rounds sessions at Children&#8217;s Medical Center, Hartford, Conn. Fox News reported Levine was invited to speak on the political implications for sexchange surgery occurring at children&#8217;s hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can say that you, the children that you serve, the young people that you serve, their families, and you all have support at the highest levels of the federal government,&#8221; Levine spoke. &#8220;President Biden supports you.\u00a0I as the Assistant Secretary for Health will support you and I talk about this topic, everywhere I go, to get the word out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think the next two years are going to be challenging,&#8221; Levine continued, &#8220;but I am positive and optimistic and hopeful that the wheel will turn after that and that this issue won&#8217;t be as politically and socially such a minefield.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Levine&#8217;s comments come at a time when many medical professionals and lawmakers raise concerns about transgender treatment given to children. Florida was the 8th state that banned the procedure last week. There are 23 other states contemplating similar legislation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve talked to doctors, we&#8217;ve received testimony from both sides of this issue, and the overwhelming data does not support&#8221; the use of puberty blockers and hormone therapy, Dr. Hector Vila, a member of Florida&#8217;s Board of Medicine,\u00a0said\u00a0at a public hearing in February.\u00a0&#8220;What the board has sought to do is to protect our children from therapies that have been shown to create irreversible harm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Andy Harris (R. Maryland) responded to Levine&#8217;s comments.Rep. Andy Harris (R.Md.), who is also a member of House Doctors Caucus but co-chairs the Pro-Life Caucus said that it was. &#8220;reprehensible for a government official\u2014let alone the Assistant U.S. Secretary of HHS\u2014to promote the genital mutilation of minors as becoming a standard practice in the U.S.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many pediatricians, particularly pediatric endocrinologists, have expressed serious concerns about the use of puberty blockers, hormone blockers, and sex transition surgeries in minors,&#8221; Harris continued. &#8220;These doctors know that these medications and procedures can impact children&#8217;s bone growth, fertility, and risk of breast and prostate cancer. Meanwhile, HHS has pressured providers to provide this care or else face discrimination lawsuits. We must protect our children.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Missouri&#8217;s attorney general is currently\u00a0investigating a pediatric transgender center for &#8220;egregious abuses and potential malpractice regarding minors.&#8221; After a whistleblower had reported many stories, the state and Sen. Josh Hawley (R.) launched an investigation. &#8220;morally and medically appalling&#8221; practices.<\/p>\n<p>Late February saw an 18-year old detransitioned girl announce that she will sue the hospital for facilitating her sex as a child. This is the first lawsuit of its type in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview last week, President Joe Biden criticized Florida&#8217;s recent protections.
