He also attacked another former ally, the Christian satirical news website, the <i>Babylon Bee<\/i>. Trump took aim at DeSantis in a Truth Social posting. <\/p>\n<p><b>TRUMP HOSTS LIBS TIKTOK CREATOR &#038; BABYLON BEE OWNER DURING DINNER: REPORT<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Why is Ron DeSanctimonious paying The Babylon Bee, a non-entity, $5,000 a month, so far $21,500, if he&#8217;s not running for President?&#8221; Trump wrote using his nickname for Governor. &#8220;Just because his Poll Numbers are tanking, probably because of his desire to cut Social Security and Medicare, doesn&#8217;t allow him to campaign without an announcement! You don&#8217;t spend that much money on The Babylon Bee if you&#8217;re running for Governor, in fact, you don&#8217;t spend money on The Babylon Bee if you&#8217;re running for anything!&#8221; <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">              <iframe src=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/110036094548014718\/embed\" class=\"truthsocial-embed\" style=\"max-width: 100%; border: 0\" width=\"600\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>              <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Trump attached a receipt to Truth Social, but it did not show when DeSantis contributed to the site. All payments to DeSantis were made in the period between August 2021 &#038; March 2022. This was before the governor was contemplating a presidential run. <\/p>\n<p>An April 2022 <i>Miami Herald<\/i> DeSantis was found to have made payments to the website, according to an investigation. &#8220;services related to online fundraising, according to state campaign finance records.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The governor&#8217;s campaign committee, as well as the associated Friends of Ron DeSantis political action committee, paid the conservative-leaning satire website The Babylon Bee a combined $15,000 last year for services related to online fundraising, according to state campaign finance records,&#8221; The outlet stated. <\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s fall out with the <i>Babylon Bee<\/i> He hosted Seth Dillon, the owner of the outlet, to dinner at Mar-a-Lago in January, which was much more recent than his encounter with DeSantis. <\/p>\n<p>The <i>Babylon Bee<\/i> Many articles were written that praised Trump during his presidency. But, he began to be criticized in 2022 as a result of DeSantis&#8217;s popularity rise in conservative circles. <\/p>\n<p>While Trump may occasionally be criticized, the articles that followed his presidency were mostly positive. The article shortly after the Jan. 6 riot, which was titled &#8220;Defending Trump&#8217;s Conduct&#8221;, was published soon afterwards. &#8220;&#8216;Let&#8217;s All Remain Peaceful,&#8217; Says Trump In Clear Incitement To Violence.&#8221; Indirectly, others defended his presidency. <\/p>\n<p>The website&#8217;s tone was decidedly anti-Trump during the midterm elections.
