Brian Fitzpatrick, (R\u2013PA). The group argues that the Republican leader shouldn\u2019t funnel money to legislators who have backed Fitzpatrick. &#8220;anti-gun&#8221; legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzpatrick was among five Republicans who broke with the majority of GOP to vote with Democrats in June to approve gun control legislation. Never.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not only does Speaker McCarthy say nothing about this. In fact, he&#8217;s going to hold a fundraiser for this guy with every D.C. swamp lobbyist in Washington, D.C.,&#8221; Parsons, who was chief-of-staff to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, spoke out about the planned March 29 fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>The AFA leader took aim directly at &#8220;Fitzpatrick&#8217;s anti-gun Second Amendment record,&#8221; Arguments in favor of it &#8220;one of the worst we&#8217;ve ever seen&#8221; A Republican congressman.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzpatrick voted to adopt HR 1808 in July 2022. This bill makes it a crime. &#8220;knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) or large capacity ammunition feeding device (LCAFD).&#8221; He voted for the Bipartisan Safety Act, which was backed by President Joe Biden and expanded background check requirements.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And so this comes on the heels of the pistol brace ban by Biden [and] just two days ago [Biden] basically announced national gun registration by executive fiat,&#8221; Parsons added that he was asking GOP voters to urge McCarthy not to support his fundraiser support.<\/p>\n<p>Although the AFA is a popular social media platform, the AFA executive vice president wouldn&#8217;t reveal its membership. The group calls itself America&#8217;s &#8220;Founding Fathers.&#8221; &#8220;never-compromising&#8221; And &#8220;hardest hitting&#8221; Protector of the Second Amendment <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the National Rifle Association, which has 5.5 million members, issued a statement affirming its support for House GOP leadership. It was also supported by Republicans on Senate Judiciary Committee. The Respect for the Second Amendment Act was opposed by the Gun Owners of America, however.<\/p>\n<p>Aidan Johnston (GOA&#8217;s federal affairs director), was one of the reasons he didn&#8217;t support the codification law. He said that it used an &#8220;entirely different test&#8221; The Supreme Court&#8217;s 6-3 decision last year, which significantly restricted the ability of states to restrict citizens&#8217; rights to carry firearms in public in self-defense, was a better choice.<\/p>\n<div id=\"dsk-banner-ad-g\"><\/div>\n<p>Johnston, who has criticised Republican lawmakers such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, (R-KY), for voting for the Bipartisan Safety Communities Act, did no raise objections to McCarthy&#8217;s leadership regarding the Second Amendment. However, he reaffirmed his belief in McConnell and Sen. John Cornyn(R-TX), being responsible. &#8220;have a long way to go before&#8221; Regaining the trust of gun owners<\/p>\n<p>Cornyn, a Texas Republican Party member, was censured in August for supporting the Bipartisan Safety Communities Act and other actions that were considered to be against the GOP&#8217;s values.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzpatrick is the co-chairman for the Problem Solvers Caucus, and a prominent GOP centrist. He has been a key figure in the narrow House GOP majority.
