Over additives that can cause cancer and organ damage, Campbell&#8217;s soups will also be prohibited. <\/p>\n<p>Jesse Gabriel (Democratic Assemblyman) introduced the legislation. The legislation targets five additives. Three of these have been banned by European Union. This would apply regardless of whether the food was sold in California. Gabriel stated that Gabriel was trying to get companies to completely eliminate these ingredients from their recipes and not just in California. <\/p>\n<p>Gabriel stated that the European bans on certain substances led Gabriel to choose titanium dioxide as the most prominent. The state sued the manufacturer of the ingredient last year. <\/p>\n<p>A 2015 study in Germany found that the substance can build up in the liver and kidneys. Recent research from France in 2017 found that the substance could increase someone\u2019s risk of developing cancer, inflammation, or damage to their immune system. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Why are these toxic chemicals in our food?&#8221; Susan Little, an employee of the Environment Working Group, requested the following: <i>Daily Mail <\/i> <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know they are harmful and that children are likely eating more of these chemicals than adults. Another major ingredient is potassium bromate. It has been banned from Canada and Brazil due to its potential link with thyroid and kidney cancers. <\/p>\n<p>The ban would also apply to jelly beans, Trident Sugar-Free gum, and certain breads in the United States.
