Steube fell 25ft off a ladder at his Sarasota home in January. Steube, despite being in his home, is still an active legislator.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m happy to report my doctor has cleared me to fly,&#8221; Steube wrote. &#8220;I am looking forward to returning to D.C. later this month!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Steube was congratulated by several colleagues on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Great news! Looking forward to having you back!&#8221; Steube wrote Neal Dunn, a Florida colleague and Republican.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Great news! Looking forward to having you back,&#8221; echoed Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Great news,&#8221; replied Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Welcome news,&#8221; House Speaker Kevin McCarthy\u00a0(R-CA) replied. &#8220;Can&#8217;t wait to have you back!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Steube, who was doing chores around his home on January 18, fell 25 feet from a ladder. Fox News reported that Steube fell 25 feet from his ladder while he was trimming branches from a tree, and the ladder collapsed. Darrell Woodie was the delivery driver and part-time field staffer for Rep. Vern Buchanan who lives in his district, saved him. Woodie said that he went to Steube\u2019s house to congratulate Steube on his re-election win. However, he saw the fall and dialled 911.<\/p>\n<p>After being admitted to the ICU for an overnight, Steube was released on January 21st. After four days at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Steube tweeted a photo of himself at home, still wearing a stabilizing brace around his neck, on a couch with his dogs \u2014 and he shared how his recovery was going.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am blessed to have a great support team in my wife Jennifer as well as numerous friends and family, including the Steube pups,&#8221; On January 23, he tweeted. &#8220;Grateful for everyone&#8217;s prayers and well-wishes as I recover from a fractured pelvis, a punctured lung, and several torn ligaments in my neck.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While I will be sidelined in Sarasota for several weeks, I will be carrying out as many of my congressional duties as possible,&#8221; He added. &#8220;And our D.C. and district staff continue to be readily available to assist Floridians in FL-17.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m eager to rejoin my colleagues in Washington as soon as possible!&#8221; He concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Steube also invited Woodie for the State of the Union address on February 2. &#8220;Mr. Woodie called 911 after witnessing my accident and is the epitome of a Good Samaritan!&#8221; He also tweeted a picture of the pair together.<\/p>\n<p>Steube continues to be active in legislative work, even though he is not in his office. McCarthy appointed him to the House Select Subcommittee for the Weaponization and the Federal Government. He introduced many pieces of legislation, the most notable being the &#8220;Safe Storage Lockers for House Office Buildings Act,&#8221; The Capitol Police would have to install storage lockers at each House Office Building&#8217;s pedestrian entrances, so employees can store weapons in self-defense.<\/p>\n<p><em>Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Rep.
