His tough and honest talk made him a national star. And that&#8217;s one that anybody who&#8217;s considering it should have the right to make on their own regardless of anybody else&#8217;s thoughts on it,&#8221; Christie said. <\/p>\n<p>So far the Republican field has three main candidates \u2014 former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy \u2014 with numerous others weighing a possible run. <\/p>\n<p>Former Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/larry-hogan-bows-out-2024-contest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bow out of consideration<\/a>Note that concerns are raised about the safety of the aforementioned. &#8220;pileup&#8221; Trump could be helped by a number of potential candidates. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have enormous respect for Gov. Hogan. He&#8217;s my friend, and I have great respect for his decision,&#8221; Christie said. &#8220;I think it&#8217;ll be a significantly smaller field than it was in 2016. And I think that it would be good for us, given all the losing we&#8217;ve done over the last four years, to have a robust primary.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican from Florida, is likely to make the opposing decision and get into the presidential contest. He is most competitive with Trump in this phase of the race, according to polls. <\/p>\n<p>Trump bulldozed 16 Republican foes in 2016 to become the front-runner in a hypothetical 2024 GOP Primary. A torrent of polls has consistently placed Trump as the top-runner. Christie believes that Trump&#8217;s political magic is beginning to fade. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You have a number of people both in the race and considering the race against what is, in essence, an incumbent president. I think that tells you, just by definition, that he&#8217;s weaker than he was in the lead-up to 2020,&#8221; Christie stated that Trump has frequently criticized her. &#8220;let us down.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;President Trump said in 2016 that we were going to do so much winning that we would get sick of winning and ask him to stop winning,&#8221; Christie spoke before going through the GOP&#8217;s losses record for 2018, 2020 and 2022. &#8220;With Donald Trump at the top of the ticket, you can be sure of the fact that we&#8217;ll have another four years of Joe Biden, and that to me is not acceptable for this country.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<div id=\"dsk-banner-ad-g\"><\/div>\n<p>Christie made comments on the war against Ukraine recently when Tucker Carlson, Fox News host, published a questionnaire to potential 2024 candidates. He reiterated his belief in the United States supporting Ukraine. Some Republicans reacted negatively to DeSantis&#8217; description of the conflict as &#8220;a conflict between two countries.&#8221; &#8220;territorial dispute.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an authoritarian regime who is invading a sovereign democratic country and trying to take its land by force,&#8221; Christie said. &#8220;All we&#8217;re doing is helping the Ukrainians defend themselves.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If America walks away from that leadership role in the world, believe me, that vacuum will be filled by the Chinese and the Russians,&#8221; Christie added. &#8220;And that will not make it a safer or more secure world. I think on this, Gov.
