This comes as Texas lawmakers accuse Biden of leaving the border states to deal with the immigration crisis.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A bill introduced by Matt Schaefer, Republican state representative, would also create a &#8220;Border Protection Unit,&#8221; Fox News reports that the state will have a bigger team of border officers to deal with the influx of migrants. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/texas-republicans-push-legislation-create-border-protection-unit-increase-criminal-penalties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. To become law, the bill must be passed by the legislature before May 31st.<\/p>\n<p>Governor-appointed unit chiefs would lead the Border Protection Unit. They could recruit civilian militia members without any felony convictions. &#8220;participate in unit operations and functions.&#8221; Illegal immigrants arrested can face up to 10 year imprisonment and thousands in fines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Right now we can use all the help and any help at all that we can get, because we&#8217;re being overrun down here and on the borders,&#8221;  <a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/texas-bill-looks-to-make-border-protection-unit-that-civilians-can-join\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheriff of Zavala County<\/a> Eusevio Salinas.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Republicans support the bill. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/republicans-push-biden-admin-to-reimburse-texas-over-states-border-enforcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Press<\/a> The Biden administration will reimburse the state for its efforts in resolving the border crisis via Operation Lone Star.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Texas has been forced by this administration to go it alone when it comes to securing our border,&#8221; Pat Fallon, a U.S. Representative from Texas, made the statement in a statement. &#8220;Operation Lone Star has been a critical tool in stemming the tide of illegal immigration, but we cannot do it by ourselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal year 2023, the U.S. Border Patrol had nearly 800,000.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/tik-tok-beacon-ads?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbads&#038;utm_campaign=bantiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/tik-tok-beacon-ads?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbads&#038;utm_campaign=bantiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The Legislature, acting with the governor, has the solemn duty to protect and defend the citizens of Texas,&#8221;
