The bill is in line with Gov. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ron-desantis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> (R-FL) blitz against &#8220;wokeness,&#8221; However, he has not yet commented on whether he would approve the legislation as it stands. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/massachusetts-college-students-new-college-florida-desantis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NEW COLLEGE OF FLORIDA STUDENTS GET ESCAPE FROM DESANTIS TAKEOVER IN MASSACHUSETTS<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>The 23-page <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2023\/999\/BillText\/Filed\/PDF\">HB 999<\/a> Although it covers many topics, the main goal is to ban all college funding of &#8220;any program or campus activity that espouses diversity, equity, inclusion or any other form of diversity.&#8221; <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/critical-race-theory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Critical Race Theory<\/a> rhetoric.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The bill proposes to end the use of identity politics or diversity in the hiring process. It also bans all critical-race theory-related courses and statements from universities.
