He faces wire fraud charges and embezzlement after his surprise no-show Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>McGrath&#8217;s attorney Joseph Murtha told reporters that he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5dc.com\/news\/arrest-warrant-issued-for-former-maryland-gov-l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;shocked&#8221; By his client&#8217;s absence<\/a>. After having had a &#8220;substantively productive conversation&#8221; McGrath stated that he had planned to meet McGrath outside of courthouse in advance of the trial. McGrath never showed up.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities carried out a welfare check at McGrath\u2019s Naples, Florida home, but he wasn\u2019t there. <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/newsletter-daily\/arrest-warrant-issued-for-former-hogan-official-mike-mcgrath#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Multiple reports indicate that<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Murtha is now available as of Tuesday afternoon <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KateRyanWTOP\/status\/1635683978832216067\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told news radio station WTOP<\/a> There were no updates regarding the whereabouts of his client. His Monday morning court appearance was scheduled to start with an arraignment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-md\/pr\/superseding-indictment-charges-former-executive-director-maryland-environmental-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A superseding Indictment<\/a>. He is accused of illegally recording conversations between senior officials. McGrath, if convicted could spend many years in prison<\/p>\n<p>McGrath is a long-standing collaborator with Hogan. Hogan once described McGrath&#8217;s work as &#8220;a great guy.&#8221; &#8220;trusted adviser&#8221; This was key to his administration&#8217;s success after he won the Maryland governor&#8217;s election in 2014. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2023\/03\/13\/roy-mcgrath-hogan-warrant-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to The Washington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hogan could be called to testify in the McGrath case. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marylandmatters.org\/2021\/11\/05\/hogan-denies-former-aides-claim-that-he-approved-hefty-severance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McGrath&#8217;s large separance was denied.<\/a>.
