He pointed to a decline in inflation rates from their record high last summer as evidence of his success. &#8220;working to lower costs for hard-working Americans.&#8221; This may not be a relief to many Americans as February&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inflation report<\/a> Prices of essential goods increased more than 10% compared to a year ago, and inflation was higher than wages.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In February, grocery store food prices rose 10.2 percent compared to the previous year. Many energy services also saw an increase from last year. Electricity was up 12.9 percent, and utility gas was up 14.3 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Biden instead of addressing the rise in prices for these goods in the past year, he highlighted the decline in inflation rates from months ago and said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2023\/03\/14\/statement-from-president-joe-biden-on-february-cpi-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a> That &#8220;annual inflation is down by a third from this summer &#8230; the slowest annual increase since September 2021.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although inflation has dropped to 6% since the summer, it was still high in August. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/07\/13\/us-inflation-new-40-year-high-june-00045541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exceeded<\/a> While the price growth has surpassed wage growth by 9 percent, it is still below 9 percent.
