Jon Tester (D., Mont.), who bills himself as a &#8220;strong advocate for rural America,&#8221; A partner of the law firm representing Silicon Valley Bank hosted a Monday fundraiser.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Michael Danaher, who cohosts Tester&#8217;s Palo Alto (Calif.) fundraiser, is a partner with the firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati. They represent the bank and other Silicon Valley ventures. <em>New York Post<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/03\/13\/sen-jon-tester-rubs-elbows-with-svb-partner-in-palo-alto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. Other cohosts for the event\u2014which cost between $250 and $6,600 to attend\u2014included Greg Avis, the founder of venture capital firm Summit Partners, and Matt Glickman, a tech entrepreneur who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/BL-WB-62183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cohosted<\/a> A fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, with Elizabeth Holmes, disgraced founder of Theranos in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>As he prepares to run for a contentious reelection election, Tester&#8217;s attendance at the meeting will be scrutinized. Liberals have criticized Tester for voting for the 2018 bill to reduce regulations for mid-sized banks such as Silicon Valley Bank. This was the second-largest U.S. bank collapse in history. Tester is a member on the Senate Banking Committee. He has not yet addressed the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s administration is being criticized for bailing depositors out of the bank which had over $200 billion in assets. The Treasury Department claimed that it will cover all deposits at the bank, including those above $250,000 which are covered by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Although the administration claims that the taxpayers won&#8217;t foot the bill the banks are expected to increase fees on customers to cover higher insurance premiums due the bailout. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/columns\/silicon-valley-bank-bailout-is-socialism-for-the-rich\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The following has been described<\/a> As &#8220;socialism for the rich.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/tik-tok-beacon-ads?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbads&#038;utm_campaign=bantiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/tik-tok-beacon-ads?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbads&#038;utm_campaign=bantiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This fundraiser is just one example of Tester&#8217;s latest campaign activity, which contradicts his image of himself as a champion for rural values. &#8220;Montana&#8217;s unique way of life.&#8221; The <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/montana-senator-jon-testers-restaurant-bills-dont-match-his-everyman-image\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Since 2006, Tester&#8217;s campaign has spent $1.2 Million on catering events and restaurants.
