But time and again, we\u2019ve heard from educators and parents that they have anxieties about that,\u201d Biden said in remarks from the White House in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo as yet another move to help accelerate the safe reopening of our schools, let\u2019s treat in-person learning like an essential service that it is. And that means getting essential workers who provide that service\u2014educators, school staff, childcare workers\u2014get them vaccinated immediately. They\u2019re essential workers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers unions across the country have pushed for officials to make COVID-19 vaccines available to teachers before making teachers return to classrooms for in-person learning, even as studies indicate and officials say vaccinations are not required to safely reopen schools.<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 is the disease caused by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus<\/a>, also known as SARS-2-CoV.<\/p>\n<p>According to the White House, over 30 states have taken steps to prioritize teachers and other educators for vaccination. Fallon\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy challenge to all states, territories, and the District of Columbia is this: We want every educator, school staff member, childcare worker to receive at least one shot by the end of the month of March,\u201d he said, adding that his administration would use its federal pharmacy program to prioritize vaccinating pre-K through 12th grade workers, as well as others who spend time with children for their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The request is another sign of how much sway unions have with Biden, whose administration consulted them before issuing school reopening guidelines last month that critics said were set unrealistic standards for resuming in-person teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump told a crowd in Florida over the weekend that schools should be fully open by now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only reason that most parents do not have that choice is because Joe Biden has sold out America\u2019s children to the teacher\u2019s unions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, a national teachers union, praised Biden for the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a tremendous relief to have a president who is meeting this moment of crisis. Vaccinations are a key ingredient to reopening schools safely, and this is the administration taking the steps to ramp up vaccinations for educators, which is great news for everyone who wants in-school learning,\u201d she said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 45 percent of American K-12 students have returned to in-person, 5 day a week classes as of Feb. 28, according to Burbio, a research group.
