They want to abolish gang databases and treat criminals as juveniles up to age 25. &#8220;structurally racist system of mass incarceration.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/claim-yours-ots-fbeacon-ads-30?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=fbeaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023marchots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \t\t\t\t \t\t\t<\/a> \t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Janet Protasiewicz, Judge Janet Protasiewicz, announced via social media that she &#8220;earned the endorsement&#8221; of Citizen Action Wisconsin after the activist group&#8217;s January candidate forum\u2014she also has the endorsement from the group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.janetforjustice.com\/endorsements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Displayed<\/a> visit her campaign website. Citizen Action Wisconsin advocates for the end of cash bail. &#8220;punishment fees and fines,&#8221; Stop the enforcement of drug crimes and treat all adult criminal suspects like juveniles until age 25. &#8220;10-year deadline for cutting the incarceration rate in half&#8221; In the state.<\/p>\n<p>Protasiewicz may be accused by her opponents of being too soft on crime because she embraces Citizen Action Wisconsin. Wisconsin voters are at 57%. <a href=\"https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/poll\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MLSP74ToplinesRV.html#Q22aQ21b:_Concern:_crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Be concerned<\/a> Concerning crime, the Democratic Senate candidate Mandela Bars lost in November to similar criticisms over his ties with Citizen Action Wisconsin (and other anti-police organizations).<\/p>\n<p>The race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, nominally non-partisan, pits Democratic-backed candidate Protasiewicz versus Republican-backed candidate Dan Kelly. It is expected to be the most costly in the country this fiscal year. This could have an impact on Wisconsin&#8217;s legislative map and abortion laws.<\/p>\n<p>Citizen Action Wisconsin  it decided to back Protasiewicz and a second left-leaning judge\u2014who lost the primary\u2014after the two candidates participated in the group&#8217;s State Supreme Court forum earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In a highly democratic process, Citizen Action conducted a public candidate forum, gathered member feedback on the candidates, and had an extensive board deliberation which reached the conclusion,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizenactionwi.org\/2023\/02\/03\/wisconsin-supreme-court-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> The group stated that it was &#8220;deeply impressed by Judge Protasiewicz&#8217;s egalitarian judicial philosophy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Protasiewicz, a member of the forum, warned that &#8220;everything from voter rights, everything from women&#8217;s reproductive rights, everything from marriage equality is on this line with this particular election.&#8221; However, she did not agree with Citizen Action Wisconsin&#8217;s position regarding bail reform. She stated that cash bail was what she believed to be the correct solution. &#8220;certainly necessary in some cases.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Citizen Action Wisconsin is a vocal critic of the state&#8217;s law enforcement and claims that Wisconsin has been a victim of racial discrimination. &#8220;structurally racist system of mass incarceration and biased policing.&#8221; The official platform of the organization calls for the release of all prisoners over a specific age, the reduction in policing budgets and elimination gang databases.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Immediately release all elders, people in comas, life support, or end-of-life care from prisons and jails,&#8221; The group&#8217;s website stated that. &#8220;Always treat children as children by amending state law to eliminate criminal prosecution of youth under age 25 as adults.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Citizen Action Wisconsin argued that the state should also be incorporated. &#8220;punish [police] departments that use public resources, such as communications staff and departmental social media feeds&#8221; To publish more details &#8220;protestors, those accused of crimes, and others who have come into disagreement or conflict with police.\u2028&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The organization also stated that police should not be allowed to arrest people who break state-of-emergency curfews. &#8220;specific proof of violent intent&#8221;\u2014unless the violators are &#8220;white supremisit groups [sic].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Citizen Action Wisconsin launched an online fundraising campaign recently in addition to their endorsement. <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.everyaction.com\/tIKAZ8XPukezFF_26qkEIA2?emci=147aab56-b8b7-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&#038;emdi=2eb82b8e-29b8-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&#038;ceid=35622\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">campaign<\/a> Protasiewicz was called the &#8220;Supreme Court Action Fund,&#8221; According to the organization, it has drawn more than 1,000 donors.<\/p>\n<p>Protasiewicz praised the group&#8217;s endorsement in a January tweet.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Together, we will take back our Supreme Court from right-wing extremists and restore independence to the judicial branch,&#8221; Protasiewicz <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/janetforjustice\/status\/1618305384548270080\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Write<\/a> See the full post.<\/p>\n<p>Protasiewicz&#8217;s critics point to her judicial records as evidence she is soft on criminals. Wisconsin Manufacturers &#038; Commerce is the largest state business association. It has been running an ad <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jClTWLh4lUI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">highlighting<\/a> Multiple convicted rapists were sentenced to light sentences by Protasiewicz.<\/p>\n<p>One 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2023\/02\/17\/wisconsin-supreme-court-candidate-janet-protasiewicz-criticized-for-giving-probation-3-felony-cases\/69894440007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Case<\/a>Protasiewicz sent a child predator to probation for assaulting an 11-year old boy.
