Freedom of speech is a bedrock principle for the law school, the university, and a democratic society, and we can and must do better to ensure that it continues even in polarized times.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The latest in a long line of high-profile disruptions to conservative speakers at prestigious universities of law is this incident. Judge James Ho also serves as a member of the 5th Circuit. He said last year that he would no more hire clerks from Yale Law School because of a disturbance by students at an Alliance Defending Freedom event. <\/p>\n<p>Duncan was supposed talk about the &#8220;conversation&#8221; The Supreme Court and the 5th Circuit were discussing COVID restrictions on gun laws. However, a group of protesters, including Tirien Steinbach, an associate dean for diversity, equity and inclusion, disrupted the event.  <\/p>\n<p>Duncan was shouted at repeatedly by the disrupters, claiming he was a terrorist. &#8220;scumbag&#8221; Steinbach interrupted the judge&#8217;s attempts at speaking and drowned him out.
