This scrutiny follows the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/foreign\/mexico-arrests-five-kidnapping-four-americans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Four American tourists are violently kidnapped<\/a> \u2014 two of whom were murdered. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/foreign\/mexico-arrests-five-kidnapping-four-americans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MEXICO ARRESTS 5 PEOPLE IN CONNECTION TO KIDNAPPING FOUR AMERICANS<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mexico is safer than the United States. There is no issue with traveling safely through Mexico. That&#8217;s something the U.S. citizens also know, just like our fellow Mexicans that live in the U.S.,&#8221; During a daily press briefing, the president stated that CNN was his news source. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/03\/13\/americas\/mexico-us-amlo-intl-latam\/index.html?utm_content=2023-03-13T18%3A37%3A07&#038;utm_term=link&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twCNNi\">reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He cited the safety of the country&#8217;s large number of American tourists as evidence and dismissed concerns about safety from the U.S. government. &#8220;paranoia.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;U.S. government alerts say that it&#8217;s safe to only travel [in the states of] Campeche and Yucatan. If that were the case, so many Americans wouldn&#8217;t be coming in to live in Mexico City and the rest of the country. In the past few years is when more Americans have come to live in Mexico.
