They say stories like this only happen in the movies. I cannot believe it\u2019s happening to me. This \u2026 this is the American Dream!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Mom, I just won an Oscar!&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Ke Huy Quan&#8217;s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor hit us right in the feels. \ud83e\udd79 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CzHuHU45Ip\">pic.twitter.com\/CzHuHU45Ip<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Academy (@TheAcademy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheAcademy\/status\/1635082661814235137?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Quan took home the golden statue for his work in the indie sci-fi comedy \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once,\u201d the biggest winner of the night with seven Oscars, including Best Picture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The actor\u2019s Hollywood career began as a child star playing Short Round in \u201cIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom\u201d (1984) and Data in \u201cGoonies\u201d (1985). Quan is also known for his roles in the 1991 sitcom \u201cHead of the Class\u201d and the comedy \u201cEncino Man\u201d (1992) opposite Brendan Fraser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Then Quan took a decades-long break from Hollywood before coming back to take the part in \u201cEverything Everywhere,\u201d which resulted in his big Oscar win. In a buzzed-about reunion moment, actor Harrison Ford, Quan\u2019s co-star from \u201cIndiana Jones,\u201d presented him with the award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI didn\u2019t think this day would come. It was a day I wanted for so long, for decades. And it\u2019s finally here,\u201d the actor said in an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ke-huy-quan-interview-everything-everywhere-spielberg-ab2601e87b405370853ce1ab12bf5dc2\"><span>interview<\/span><\/a><span> with AP ahead of the ceremony. \u201cWhen you have a dream and you kind of bury it because you think it won\u2019t come true, to see it finally come true is incredible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cFor the longest time, all I wanted was just a job,\u201d the actor said. \u201cJust an opportunity to act, to show people what I can do. This movie, \u2018Everything Everywhere All at Once,\u2019 has given me so much beyond anything I could have ever asked for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere are so many people out there who doubt themselves, who have dreams they\u2019ve given up or didn\u2019t think would ever come true,\u201d Quan told the publication. \u201cTo those people, I hope my story inspires them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Michelle Yeoh also made history with her Best Actress Oscar win for \u201cEverything Everywhere\u201d by becoming the first Asian to win the Academy Award.
