Budget hawks have not yet released their plan, and an aggressive one could limit the GOP&#8217;s ability of picking off vulnerable Senate Democrats. <\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/senate-democrats-2024-sherrod-brown-jacky-rosen-kyrsten-sinema\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SENATE DEMOCRATS FACE BRUTALMAP<\/a><\/u><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>Members of the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/freedom-caucus-lays-out-debt-ceiling-demands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Freedom Caucus<\/a> They made demands of Biden Friday to know what they need to see to get an agreement to fix the debt ceiling crisis. These demands are part of a deal made by House Speaker with members <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kevin-mccarthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kevin McCarthy<\/a> To ensure that the budget balances in the next decade, in exchange for him handing over the speaker&#8217;s scepter. <\/p>\n<p>But, the demands of the caucus did not address the fiscal behemoths that are Social Security and Medicare. These massive spending programs, which together with the defense budget, account for a large portion of the federal budget, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbpp.org\/research\/federal-budget\/where-do-our-federal-tax-dollars-go\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Most government spending<\/a>. Some House lawmakers plan to jump to the upper chamber next spring, so it might have been strategic to leave entitlement spending off of the table. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am deeply skeptical that Republican leadership is going to bring a significant entitlement cut to the floor knowing that it&#8217;s not going to become law and would be used against members seeking reelection,&#8221; Alex Conant, a former GOP strategist <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/03\/11\/2024-house-republicans-senate-debt-medicare?utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_campaign=editorial&#038;utm_medium=social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Telled<\/a> <i>Axios<\/i>. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans aren&#8217;t sure who they will back in each race next year.
