Individuals rarely accept this offer. <\/p>\n<p>Bragg&#8217;s office declined comment regarding the grand jury. This could be the first time that a former president of the United States is facing criminal charges. The Trump invitation indicates that Trump may be charged. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/michael-cohen\">Michael Cohen<\/a>In 2019, Trump&#8217;s ex-lawyer, argued before Congress that he had paid Daniels, an actress and film star, $130,000 in 2016 to stop her speaking out about an affair she alleged to have had with Trump in 2005. Cohen pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to time for the alleged payment. <\/p>\n<p>It is legal to send and receive hush-money payments. <i>New York Times<\/i> Manhattan prosecutors may argue that the $130,000 was an improper donation to Trump\u2019s 2016 campaign.
